About Mangialonga

Eight kilometers of trails, panoramas of the Gulf of Poets, and five delicious stops: the Mangialonga of La Spezia is the food and wine walk that combines trekking and tradition. Starting from Piazza Europa and following the Alta Via del Golfo, participants discover the city's heights, stopping to taste honey, focaccia, pesto, anchovies, and sweets, accompanied by guides from the local CAI (Italian Alpine Club).

Walking and Eating on the Heights

The Mangialonga of La Spezia is a food and wine walk that takes participants to discover the heights surrounding the Ligurian capital. A route of about 8 kilometers along the Alta Via del Golfo and ancient stairways, with views of the Gulf of Poets, marked by five stops dedicated to the flavors of the territory.

Five Delicious Stops

The walk combines nature and gastronomy: starting from Piazza Europa, it stops at Porta Isolabella for honey and cheeses, at the Pieve di Marinasco for focaccia, pizza, and vegetable pies, at Cozzano for pesto pasta, at the Sant'Anna Hostel for anchovy crostini, and finally at La Gira for sweets and coffee. A journey through the specialties of Ligurian cuisine.

With CAI Guides

Participants are divided into groups and accompanied by guides from the CAI (Club Alpino Italiano) of La Spezia along the entire route. The event, organized by the Municipality of La Spezia, is designed for those who want to combine the pleasure of walking with that of good food, discovering a new and panoramic side of the city.

Mangialonga — edition 2026

The Mangialonga 2026 takes place on Saturday, May 16th: an 8 km route on the heights of La Spezia along the Alta Via del Golfo, starting from Piazza Europa at 10:00 AM with five food and wine stops. Limited to 300 spots, fee of 15 euros per person (free under 5), with CAI guides and return shuttle.

The Mangialonga 2026 takes place on Saturday, May 16th, starting from Piazza Europa at 10:00 AM. The 8-kilometer route crosses the heights of La Spezia along the Alta Via del Golfo and historic stairways, accompanied by guides from the La Spezia CAI.

300 spots are available at a cost of 15 euros per person (free for children under 5 years old). Registration closes on Thursday, May 14th at 1:00 PM. A shuttle service returns participants from Rebocco to Piazza Europa.
