About 80 Festival

The Manduria '80 Festival is a free, city-wide event that transforms the historic center of Manduria, in the province of Taranto, into a grand time-travel experience dedicated to the 1980s. Ten musical stages simultaneously animate squares, main streets, and alleys with live concerts, tribute bands, the Vintage Night DJ set, and free guided tours. A nostalgic evening of synth-pop, new wave, and Italian rock that blends music, culture, and the promotion of this Messapian village in Puglia.

A dive into the eighties in the heart of Manduria

The Manduria '80 Festival (simply known as the 80 Festival) is a major free-entry street festival that, at the end of August, transforms the historic center of Manduriaโ€”in the heart of the Taranto province and Messapian Pugliaโ€”into a fascinating journey through the most iconic decade of pop culture. For an entire evening, from sunset to midnight, the town's squares, main streets, arches, and alleys light up with music, lights, and retro vibes.

A widespread event with ten stages

The formula that has made the festival a success is that of the widespread event: not just one single stage, but ten musical stations distributed throughout the historic center, all active simultaneously. The public is invited to stroll between Piazza Garibaldi, Corso XX Settembre, Via Roma, the Municipal Villa, the Arco Sant'Angelo, and the many charming corners of the village, choosing which concert to stop at. Each station offers a different repertoire: from synth-pop to Italian rock, from new wave to the greatest disco hits, including tributes to the international legends of that era.

Music, DJ sets, and guided tours

Alongside the live tribute band concerts, the soul of the festival is the Vintage Night, the massive DJ set in Piazza Garibaldi that gets the crowd dancing to the most famous hits of the eighties. However, the event is not just about music: the evening also features free guided tours of the historic center, designed to help visitors rediscover the city's architectural heritage and history, combining entertainment with the cultural promotion of the village.

A project for the territory

Established in 2024, the Manduria '80 Festival is organized by the ArchiTA Festival association in collaboration with the Municipality of Manduria, with the support of the Puglia Region, Popularia OdV, and under the patronage of Confcommercio Taranto. The initiative is part of a broader strategy for tourism promotion and the revitalization of Puglian historic centers during the summer, capable of attracting thousands of residents and tourists in a single evening.

Manduria, city of Primitivo

The setting for the event is Manduria, world-famous for its Primitivo di Manduria wine and its significant Messapian past, evidenced by the Archaeological Park of the Messapian Walls and the Fonte Pliniano. The festival thus becomes an opportunity to discover one of the most characteristic towns in the Salento area of Taranto.

The dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been officially announced: the event, which in its first editions took place in the final days of August, will be updated as soon as the program is made public by the organizers.

80 Festival โ€” edition 2026

The 2026 edition of the Manduria '80 Festival is expected, as in previous years, to take place in late August in the historic center of Manduria. As of today, the organizers have not yet officially announced the date or the program for the new edition: information will be updated as soon as it is made public.

The Manduria '80 Festival is expected to return in 2026 with its widespread event formula dedicated to the eighties, featuring live concerts, DJ sets, and free guided tours in the historic center of Manduria. At the moment, the official date of the 2026 edition has not yet been announced: in the first editions, the event was held in the final days of August. The program with musical stations and artists will be published by the organizers in the weeks preceding the event.
