About Mamertino Oil and Wine Festival

The Mamertino Olive Oil and Wine Festival in Rodì Milici, in the heart of the Messina province, celebrates two pillars of Sicilian agricultural tradition: extra virgin olive oil and Mamertino wine, one of history's most ancient and celebrated vintages. Along Viale Martino, through tastings, masterclasses, producer meet-and-greets, and signature cooking shows, the festival highlights a territory dedicated to quality, from olive cultivars to the vineyards that have produced a nectar beloved since Roman times.

A festival for olive oil and Mamertino wine

The Mamertino Olive Oil and Wine Festival is held in Rodì Milici, a town in the Province of Messina nestled between the Peloritani Mountains along the Patrì stream, to celebrate two excellences that have defined this corner of north-eastern Sicily for centuries: extra virgin olive oil and Mamertino wine. The event takes place in the town centre, along Viale Martino, transforming the village into a grand tasting lounge filled with wine glasses, local flavours, and stories of the land.

Mamertino wine, an ancient nectar

Mamertino is one of the oldest wines in history. Already cherished by the Romans, it was considered so prestigious that Pliny the Elder ranked it among the most noble wines, and legend has it that Julius Caesar offered it to the people to celebrate his third consulship. Today, the Mamertino di Milazzo DOC, established in 2004, includes the territory of Rodì Milici, which proudly bears the title of City of Wine. The festival dedicates masterclasses and in-depth sessions to Mamertino, promoting the Mamertino Wine Route.

Program and atmosphere

The event offers a rich and varied program, designed for producers, enthusiasts, industry professionals, and curious visitors alike:

  • Tastings of extra virgin olive oil and Mamertino wine;
  • Masterclasses dedicated to Mamertino wine;
  • Meetings, conferences, and live talks with local experts and producers;
  • Exhibition spaces for local products and companies;
  • Culinary moments accompanied by music and artistic entertainment.

Signature cuisine

Among the most anticipated moments is the Mamertino and Haute Cuisine cooking show, featuring Michelin-starred chef Giuseppe Raciti from the Zash restaurant, who masterfully reinterprets local products with a contemporary twist, highlighting the bond between wine, oil, and fine dining.

A local event

Promoted by the Municipality of Rodì Milici with the patronage of the Sicilian Region – Department of Agriculture, Rural Development and Mediterranean Fisheries, the festival is an appointment destined to grow over time and strengthen the food and wine identity of Rodì Milici and Sicily.
