The Christmas market in the heart of Val di Fassa
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Every December, the public park of Canazei, in the town center, dresses up for the holidays and hosts Maitin, the Christmas market of Val di Fassa. Illuminated wooden huts, glowing braziers, and craft displays create an Alpine village suspended among the peaks of the Dolomites, where the Advent season is experienced with warmth and leisure. We are in the municipality of Canazei, in the Province of Trento, in the heart of the Trentino-Alto Adige region.
The market's name is rooted in the valley's Ladin culture: «Maitin» is the term for the Christmas Eve Midnight Mass, the most intimate and highly anticipated moment of the holiday. Choosing this name evokes the spirit of reflection, wonder, and community that accompanies Christmas in mountain villages, where folk traditions and the Ladin language remain a living part of the local identity.
The market offers an experience designed for the whole family, filled with scents, flavors, and small performances:
Canazei is one of the most famous locations in Trentino, an ideal starting point for exploring the Sella group, the Marmolada, and the Dolomite passes. In winter, the town becomes a lively tourist hub, and the Maitin market naturally fits into the festive calendar, offering those staying in the valley one more reason to discover the charm of Christmas at high altitude. The combination of the Dolomite landscape, Ladin tradition, and Alpine hospitality makes this event one of the most evocative of the Advent season in Val di Fassa.
The market enlivens Canazei during the Advent and Christmas period, with openings concentrated on weekends in December and then continuously until the first days of January, generally from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The dates of the most recent edition saw the public park come to life between early December and the beginning of January, coinciding with the Christmas holidays.
The return of Maitin, the Canazei Christmas market, is expected for December 2026 in the public park in the town center, in Val di Fassa (Province of Trento). At the moment, the organizers have not yet announced the official dates or the program for the 2026 edition.
As per tradition, the market is expected to enliven Canazei with wooden huts, Ladin crafts, mulled wine, traditional sweets, concerts, and children's activities. We recommend checking the official Val di Fassa channels for updated dates, times, and programs as soon as they become available.
The Maitin market is held in the public park of Canazei (Postal Code 38032), in the Province of Trento, in the town center.
