The artisanal Christmas market in the heart of Vigo di Fassa, in the Dolomites
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The "Pìcol, bon e bel" market — which means "small, good and beautiful" in the Ladin language — is the Christmas highlight of Vigo di Fassa, a village in the municipality of San Giovanni di Fassa-Sèn Jan, in the province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige). It is not a large city event, but its intimate size makes it one of the most charming and delicate markets in the Dolomites: a cozy, illuminated, and fragrant trail that winds through the center of this Ladin town.
The market is spread across three areas in the center of Vigo: the two small squares — the one in front of the Tourist Office and the one next to Hotel Rosa — and inside the Ciasa Marmolada. The wooden huts are arranged along an illuminated path, creating a welcoming atmosphere at the foot of the Catinaccio and Marmolada mountain groups.
The stars of the show are the handmade artisanal creations, many made with natural materials:
The market is filled with the scent of mulled wine, hot tea, and roasted chestnuts; on Friday afternoons, you will also find apple fritters dusted with cinnamon and powdered sugar. It is the perfect way to warm up while strolling through the lights.
To enrich your visit, there are several displays dedicated especially to children: a life-sized Advent Calendar on the terrace of Ciasa Marmolada, Christmas Selfie Points along the nativity scene trail, and a mailbox for Santa Claus. It is an ideal setting to experience Christmas as a family in the Ladin atmosphere of Val di Fassa.
Vigo di Fassa is part of the scattered municipality of San Giovanni di Fassa-Sèn Jan, the heart of the valley's Ladin community. The market, organized by the Vich Events Committee, is part of the Christmas calendar for the entire Val di Fassa, including the villages of Moena, Canazei, Campitello, and Pozza, offering visitors an authentic, village-scale experience in the Trentino Dolomites.
The schedule and opening hours for the 2026 edition of the "Pìcol, bon e bel" Christmas market in Vigo di Fassa have not yet been released. As per tradition, the market is expected to take place during the Christmas season, from Advent until the first days of January, in the town's central squares and at Ciasa Marmolada. Official information will be released by the organizers closer to the festivities.
Vigo di Fassa (San Giovanni di Fassa-Sèn Jan) can be reached by car via the SS48 Dolomite road. The nearest train station is Trento (about 1.5 hours away), which is connected to the valley by Trentino Trasporti buses heading toward Val di Fassa.
Access to the market is free of charge.
Booking accommodation in the valley in advance is highly recommended for the Christmas period. Bring warm clothing and winter footwear suitable for snow.
