The traveling concert series through the villages of the Maiella
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Maiella in Musica is one of the longest-running and most beloved concert series in Abruzzo. Established in 1997 by the Associazione Ensemble Niccolò Paganini of Montesilvano (PE), every summer it transforms the villages at the foot of the Maiella into open-air stages. Throughout July, August, and September, the festival travels through villages, abbeys, churches, and squares in the Pescara area, in a sonic journey that stretches from the sea to the mountains.
Among the municipalities involved is Sant'Eufemia a Maiella, a small mountain village in the Province of Pescara nestled at an altitude of nearly 900 meters, in the heart of the Maiella National Park. Here, concerts are held in the charming Piazza Castello, the space at the foot of the church reached at the end of the village staircase. This stop is made possible by the collaboration between the Associazione Ensemble Niccolò Paganini, the Municipality of Sant'Eufemia a Maiella, and the Associazione Roccacaramanico, which has contributed to the cultural life of the area for years.
The hallmark of Maiella in Musica is its variety: the program alternates between classical and chamber music, jazz, sacred music, folk, and international traditions, enhancing the historical, artistic, and landscape heritage of these small towns. Concerts are held in locations of great architectural value—abbeys, churches, cloisters, and squares—creating an intense dialogue between sound and ancient stone.
With nearly thirty years of history behind it, Maiella in Musica represents a precious cultural stronghold for the inland areas of Abruzzo, capable of attracting audiences and tourists to mountain villages and restoring vitality to places otherwise outside the major circuits. In Sant'Eufemia a Maiella, the festival is a highly anticipated summer event that combines exploring the village with listening to live music under the Maiella sky.
At the moment, the dates and program for the 2026 edition of Maiella in Musica have not yet been published. The festival, historically scheduled between July and August, is expected to renew its appointment in Sant'Eufemia a Maiella, in the province of Pescara, in 2026. For updated information, we recommend consulting the official channels of the Associazione Ensemble Niccolò Paganini.
Sant'Eufemia a Maiella can be reached by car from the Scafa-Alanno motorway exit (A25), continuing towards the Val di Foro and the Maiella. The nearest train station is Scafa-San Valentino, on the Rome-Pescara line.
Maiella in Musica concerts are free of charge.
The village is located at an altitude of nearly 900 meters: even in midsummer, evenings can be cool, so appropriate clothing is recommended. Piazza Castello is reached by climbing the village staircase.
