About MIF Magreta in Festa

Magreta in Festa (MIF) is the big summer festival of the hamlet of Magreta, in the Municipality of Formigine, in the province of Modena. Organized by the Associazione Magreta APS with over 300 volunteers, it animates the Via Fossa area for two weeks in June with live concerts every evening, traditional Modenese cuisine, and many events for families. It is a non-profit festival: a large part of the proceeds is donated to local charities committed to social causes.

Magreta in Festa, the solidarity heart of the Modenese summer

Magreta in Festa, known to everyone by the acronym MIF, is one of the most beloved summer events in the province of Modena. It takes place in the hamlet of Magreta, in the Municipality of Formigine, in Emilia-Romagna, and for over twenty years has attracted thousands of people to the large green area of Via Fossa, transformed for two weeks into a large festival village with a stage, food stalls, and areas for children.

A festival born from volunteering

The event is organized by the Associazione Magreta APS, a social promotion association that involves over 300 volunteers each year from various local groups. The spirit driving the event is that of community: MIF is indeed a non-profit festival, and a large part of the proceeds is allocated to charity. In the last edition, approximately €30,000 was donated to about ten local social welfare associations, confirming how the festival combines fun and solidarity.

Live music, every evening

The music program is the real engine of the evenings: in Magreta, the music is exclusively live, with concerts every evening starting around 7:30 PM. The offering is intentionally diverse to please all tastes and ages, ranging from tributes to great Italian and international artists, ska, indie folk, hard rock, new wave, punk, and more danceable sounds in the later hours. Admission to the concerts is free.

Flavors of tradition

Cuisine is one of MIF's strengths, with the flavors of Modenese tradition prepared by volunteers: tortelloni, tigelle served with cured meats and cheeses, gnocco fritto, and grilled meats. There are also vegetarian options and a gluten-free menu, as well as the more informal bar area with cocktails, beers, and street food. Authentic cuisine designed to accompany the evenings under the stage.

Focus on the environment and families

MIF is also a festival committed to sustainability: the organization focuses on biodegradable, compostable, and plastic-free materials, separate waste collection, and promotion of soft mobility. There is ample space dedicated to children and families, with creative workshops, shows, and activities that make the event a gathering for all generations of the Formigine community.

MIF Magreta in Festa — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of Magreta in Festa takes place over two weeks, from June 3 to 7 and from June 10 to 14, in the Via Fossa area in Magreta (Formigine). Every evening features free live concerts, traditional Modenese cuisine, and family activities, with solidarity as the common thread of the event.

For 2026, MIF confirms its formula over two weeks in June: June 3-7 and June 10-14, in the green area of Via Fossa in Magreta. The evenings offer live music every day, with a diverse lineup including tributes, ska, indie, rock, and new artists: among the announced concerts is that of The Magnetics (ska/reggae) on Thursday, June 4. The stalls with Modenese dishes prepared by volunteers and the areas dedicated to children and families are also confirmed. Admission is free, and part of the proceeds will be donated to charity.
