The Magnalonga – San Salvo at the Table is one of the most beloved summer events in the town of San Salvo, located in the province of Chieti, in the heart of coastal Abruzzo. The concept is as simple as it is charming: setting up a single, incredibly long banquet table that winds through the historic center, transforming the town's streets into a massive open-air dining room where locals and visitors sit side by side to dine together.

A 350-meter-long banquet

The table route stretches for over 350 meters along Corso Umberto I and Via Roma, from the historic Porta della Terra to the entrance of the municipal park. In recent editions, nearly 150 tables have been set up, accommodating hundreds of diners in a spectacular visual display that has become the iconic image of the event.

The flavors of Abruzzo

The Magnalonga is also a showcase for the gastronomic traditions of Abruzzo and the San Salvo area. The evening's menu features specialties such as arrosticini, porchetta, focaccia with ventricina and pecorino cheese, sausage sandwiches, pampanella, fried fish, scrippelle, bocconotti, and numerous traditional desserts. In some editions, guests bring and share homemade dishes, further strengthening the community spirit of the initiative.

Conviviality and solidarity

Beyond its culinary appeal, the Magnalonga has a strong social mission. The event was born as a moment for gathering and integration, where food serves as a tool for social connection. In the early editions, part of the proceeds from seat reservations was donated to local charitable causes, blending the celebration with a gesture of generosity toward the community.

Launched in 2024 as an initiative by residents of the historic center with the support of the municipal administration, the Magnalonga has quickly established itself as an unmissable summer event in San Salvo, growing in participation year after year. Now part of the official summer calendar of the Municipality of San Salvo, it represents an ideal opportunity to discover the historic center, its flavors, and its hospitality.
