Roman street food at the Città dell'Altra Economia in Testaccio
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Magna Roma – The Roman Cuisine Festival is the event celebrating Roman gastronomy in its historic cradle: Testaccio, in the city of Rome, Lazio. The festival takes place in the open-air arena of the Città dell'Altra Economia, inside the former slaughterhouse, a space of over 4,000 square meters that transforms into a massive, free-entry village of taste for four days.
The heart of the festival lies in the food corners dedicated to the great classics of Roman dining, reinterpreted as street food: carbonara, cacio e pepe, supplì, crispy pizza, meatballs, gourmet fried snacks, fresh handmade pasta, and traditional dishes like chicken cacciatore and saltimbocca alla romana. You will also find guanciale, pecorino, and cured meats and cheeses from central Italy, alongside offerings from local trattorias and pasta shops that define Rome's culinary identity.
Alongside the food stalls, a spacious beer garden with numerous bars offers craft beers, Lazio wines, cocktails, and aperitifs. The atmosphere is the convivial, popular vibe typical of Testaccio, a district that has made fine dining and street life its hallmark.
Every evening is accompanied by live music, DJ sets, and shows: tribute bands, 90s-themed nights, comedy, and events that keep the arena buzzing until late at night. In past editions, the festival has even screened Serie A matches on a giant screen, blending food, sports, and entertainment into one big city celebration.
Magna Roma is part of the Testaccio Estate program and has been held with the support of the Lazio Region and Arsial. It has become one of the most anticipated gastronomic events of the Roman autumn, attracting families, young people, and tourists to the capital's premier food district, between the Monte dei Cocci and the former slaughterhouse.
The new edition of Magna Roma is expected in the Testaccio district of Rome (Lazio), in the arena of the Città dell'Altra Economia. At the moment, the dates and detailed program for 2026 have not yet been published by the organizers.
Based on previous editions, we can expect a long weekend dedicated to Roman street food, featuring carbonara, cacio e pepe, supplì, and crispy pizza, accompanied by craft beers, Lazio wines, live music, and DJ sets, all with free admission. This page will be updated with dates and the program as soon as they are made official.
