The non-competitive food and wine walk through the hills of Solignano
Magna & Camèina is the most anticipated food and wine event of spring in Solignano, a small Apennine municipality in the province of Parma, Emilia-Romagna. It is not a race, but a non-competitive, fun, and recreational walk: everyone starts together from the town center and walks through the Solignano hills, stopping at each stage to taste local food and wines. The name itself, in the Parma dialect, summarizes the spirit of the event: magna (eat) and camèina (walk).
The itinerary winds for about 14 kilometers along country paths and roads, crossing ancient villages, stretches of woods, and the characteristic votive shrines that dot the Parma Apennine countryside. Along the route, participants encounter several tasting stops set up in evocative locations such as the Old Church of San Lorenzo, the Oratory of Boio, and the hamlets of Masereto and Ca' Bertucci. Each stop is dedicated to a different course, from the initial breakfast to the final dessert, accompanied by wines from the Parma Hills.
The event is entirely managed by Pro Loco Solignano APS, which offers it as an opportunity to promote the territory and foster social interaction. Founded in 2023, the walk has, in just a few editions, won over a loyal audience of families, groups of friends, and food and wine trekking enthusiasts, attracting participants from all over the province of Parma and beyond. The meeting point is in Piazza Europa, in the heart of Solignano, where the finish line with the last delicious stop is also located.
The route is accessible to walkers of all ages: comfortable clothing and trekking shoes are recommended. It is also a suitable experience for families, with a reduced fee for children up to 15 years old. The event takes place in any weather condition, unless cancelled by the organizers on their social media channels.
