The Local Produce Festival is one of the most genuine summer events in Cisternino: two evenings in early August when the UPAL Winery and Oil Mill in Cisternino, on Via Fasano, transforms into a grand celebration of farming and the flavors of the Itria Valley. The initiative, organized by UPAL (Union of Local Agricultural Producers), showcases the best of the region's agricultural cooperation through a farm-to-table gastronomic tour, where olive oil, wine, and local specialties come directly from the area's producers.

The rural heart of Cisternino

We are in the town of Cisternino, in the Province of Brindisi, one of the most beautiful villages in Puglia, nestled among the trulli and dry-stone walls of the Itria Valley. Here, agriculture is not just an economy but an identity: ancient olive groves, vineyards, and masserie (farmhouses) shape a landscape that the festival celebrates by bringing to the table what is grown just a few steps away. The event is part of the Cisternino summer program, alongside other land-related gatherings like the Agrifest and the historic Grape Festival, in a journey that highlights local productive excellence.

Farm-to-table flavors

The common thread of the festival is the food and wine tour: throughout the winery grounds, agricultural cooperative stands offer the chance to taste local specialties, paired with wines and extra virgin olive oil produced by UPAL itself. It is an opportunity to get to know those who cultivate the Cisternino countryside and to rediscover the authentic taste of Apulian products.

Music and dancing under the stars

Each evening kicks off at 9:00 PM with a live concert: fine food meets folk music, and the festival becomes a lively town square celebration filled with dancing and joy. It captures the most convivial spirit of the Salento and Apulian summer—those open-air evenings that bring different generations together through food and music.
