The world's native cultures at the Monastero del Lavello
Lo Spirito del Pianeta is the international festival of the world's tribal and indigenous groups, the largest in Italy entirely dedicated to native cultures. Created to promote awareness and appreciation of the identities of peoples from every continent, it offers a journey of colours, sounds, and traditions that invites the public to an experience of discovery and encounter.
In 2026, the festival will arrive for the first time in Calolziocorte, a municipality in the province of Lecco, within the setting of the Monastero del Lavello, one of the most evocative locations in the area overlooking the Adda river. The arrival of the event is the result of extensive work: the initiative was funded through the regional call "Itinerari ed eventi in Lombardia" (Itineraries and events in Lombardy), with a contribution of €8,000 on a €10,000 project. "I have pursued this festival for 7 years," stated the Councillor for Major Events, Cristina Valsecchi, emphasizing the goal of attracting tourism and enhancing the Monastery.
The programme blends various forms of expression:
Admission is free: a choice consistent with the festival's educational and inclusive mission, which aims to bring the richness of world cultures to the widest possible audience. For Calolziocorte and for Lombardy, this is an opportunity for international outreach, in a year also marked by the legacy of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympic Games.
The 2026 edition marks the festival's debut in Calolziocorte, within the setting of the Monastero del Lavello. For four days, the international festival of indigenous peoples will feature concerts, traditional dances performed by guest tribal groups, encounters to learn about different cultural identities, crafts, and gastronomy from every continent. Admission is free. The event is funded through the regional call 'Itinerari ed eventi in Lombardia' (a €8,000 contribution to a €10,000 project) and strongly supported by the municipal administration, with Councillor Cristina Valsecchi having followed the project for seven years.
The detailed programme for the 2026 Calolziocorte edition, including dates and times for concerts, dance performances, encounters, and activities, will be published on the festival's official website closer to the event. The usual structure of the festival includes: concerts and music from native peoples, traditional dances by guest tribal groups, cultural encounters, craft markets, and gastronomic offerings from different continents, all with free admission.
