The Aosta Valley Breed on Display

The La Salle Livestock Show is the spring cattle exhibition that each year showcases the Aosta Valley breed, the iconic cow of mountain farming in the Aosta Valley. Organized for the Unité des Communes Valdigne - Mont Blanc, the event brings together breeders and selected animals from the region, in a day that celebrates rural culture and the work of those who keep high-altitude agriculture alive.

A Breed Suited to the Mountains

The Aosta Valley breed is particularly valued for being suitable for use in medium and high mountain pastures: rustic, hardy, and perfectly integrated into the alpine landscape, it is the foundation for both dairy production (Fontina and other typical cheeses) and the famous Batailles de Reines (Cows' Battles). The show is an opportunity to admire the best specimens up close and to understand the importance of this zootechnical heritage.

Part of a Regional Calendar

The La Salle show is part of the calendar of spring livestock shows coordinated by Arev (Association régionale éleveurs valdôtains), which spans various territories of the region to support breeders and promote the Aosta Valley cattle breed. These shows serve as a prelude to the major regional competition on May 1st in Aosta, the Concours Reina dou Lacë.
