The live music festival at the Chiostri di San Pietro in Reggio Emilia
Live in Chiostri is the summer live music festival that animates the Chiostri di San Pietro every year, a splendid Renaissance monastic complex located along Via Emilia San Pietro, in the historic center of Reggio Emilia. Promoted by Consorzio Quarantacinque together with Arci Reggio Emilia and Fondazione Palazzo Magnani, as part of the Laboratorio Aperto dei Chiostri di San Pietro, the festival has become in a few years one of the most anticipated musical events of the Emilian summer.
Live in Chiostri is not just a concert lineup: it is a cultural project that spans Reggio Emilia throughout the month of June. Alongside the two main evenings, the festival offers concerts in various spaces in the city and province, live podcasts and interviews, street performances, and participatory projects such as "La musica per me" (Music for me), designed to involve the community and give new life to urban spaces.
The festival focuses on new Italian singer-songwriters, combining auteur songs, electronic experimentation, and club culture. Emerging artists and established names from the independent scene alternate on the stage of the Chiostri, with particular attention to the quality of the proposals and the musical identity of the territory. The intimate atmosphere of the cloister, illuminated for the occasion, makes every concert an up-close and evocative experience.
The Chiostri di San Pietro represent one of the architectural jewels of Emilia-Romagna: an ancient Benedictine monastery with two 16th-century cloisters, now a restored cultural space returned to the city. Listening to live music under the Renaissance arcades on summer evenings is one of the aspects that make Live in Chiostri an event with an unmistakable identity.
The fourth edition of Live in Chiostri takes place on June 19th and 20th, 2026, at the Chiostri di San Pietro in Reggio Emilia, with evenings opening from 6:00 PM. The festival is preceded by a series of concerts held in Guastalla and Reggio Emilia, accompanying the audience towards the main weekend.
The festival reaffirms its identity as a celebration of new Italian singer-songwriters, enriched by live podcasts, street performances, and participatory projects that animate the entire city.
The Chiostri di San Pietro are located at Via Emilia San Pietro 44/C, in the historic center of Reggio Emilia. Reggio Emilia train station is about a 15-minute walk away; by car, it is easily reachable from the Reggio Emilia exit of the A1 motorway, with parking near the center.
Tickets are available in advance on Vivaticket and Dice, at the Teatro Valli ticket office, and directly at the Chiostri before each evening. Advance purchase is recommended.
The evenings start in the late afternoon: arriving early allows you to also experience the live podcasts and the food & beverage areas set up in the courtyard.
