The summer festival of Campocavallo with stockfish, crescia, and polenta
The Leone Festival is one of the most beloved summer events in the hamlet of Campocavallo, in the Municipality of Osimo, Province of Ancona. Founded in the late nineties, the event takes place along Via Covo, in the heart of the hamlet, and in just a few editions, it has become a benchmark for those seeking traditional Marche cuisine served with the authentic spirit of village festivals.
The program has always been organized around three evenings, each dedicated to a symbolic dish of the local gastronomic tradition:
Alongside the food stalls, every evening is enlivened by live music: liscio (ballroom dancing) orchestras, Italian music groups, and shows that attract families and fans of group dances. There is also entertainment for children and popular games that are part of the festival's soul.
The Leone Festival is entirely supported by the voluntary work of the organizing committee and the local associations of Campocavallo. More than just a gastronomic event, it represents a moment of community gathering and an opportunity to rediscover the flavors of traditional Marche peasant cuisine, from stockfish to crescia, in a simple and welcoming setting.
Included in the rich calendar of Osimo festivals that enliven the summer in the area, the Leone Festival traditionally opens the season of summer festivals in Osimo, offering visitors to the Marche a genuine taste of the popular traditions of the Province of Ancona.
The 27th edition of the Leone Festival was held from June 5 to 7, 2026, in Campocavallo di Osimo, on Via Covo, traditionally opening the season of Osimo's summer festivals.
The event featured the usual three themed evenings: Friday was the stockfish evening, Saturday the crescia evening, and Sunday the polenta evening, with food stalls, dancing, and shows.
The festival takes place along Via Covo, in the hamlet of Campocavallo di Osimo (AN). By car, take the Osimo exit from the A14 motorway, then follow signs for Campocavallo. The nearest train station is Osimo-Castelfidardo, on the Adriatic line.
Food stalls are open in the evenings (opening times vary, typically between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM depending on the evening), with takeout options available. Free admission to the festival area; you only pay for what you consume.
It is recommended to arrive early on weekend evenings to avoid queues at the food stalls. Both outdoor and covered seating are available, making the event accessible even in case of bad weather.
