The Elderflower Summer Festival in Montecassiano

The Elderflower Summer Festival is one of the most beloved summer feasts in the hamlet of Sambucheto, on the outskirts of Montecassiano, a hilly village in the province of Macerata, in Marche. Promoted by the Il Sambuco Association, the event takes place every year in mid-June and transforms the hamlet's gardens into a large outdoor celebration space, featuring music, gastronomy, sports, and community gathering moments.

Three days of conviviality

The festival's formula combines entertainment and tradition: three evenings that, as the organizers recall, have always managed to involve families, adults, and children in a cheerful atmosphere. The food stands accompany all days with Marche cuisine dishes and local specialties, while the stages and outdoor spaces host live concerts, DJ sets, and evening shows.

Sports, nature, and family activities

The Elderflower Summer Festival is not just music and good food: past editions have included nature walks, outdoor yoga classes, gymnastics and dance demonstrations, horseback riding, a craft market, and numerous play activities for children. Often, the festival also adopts a theme that serves as a common thread for the evenings, inviting the public to participate in costumes and disguises — as happened in the edition dedicated to the world of Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz.

A festival in Montecassiano's summer program

The event is part of the rich summer program of the Municipality of Montecassiano, built each year in collaboration between the municipal administration, the Pro Loco, and the many local associations, with dozens of evenings spread between the historic center and the hamlets from June to September. The Elderflower Summer Festival is traditionally one of the first major events of the season, capable of kicking off the community's summer.

Montecassiano and the Sambucheto hamlet

Montecassiano is listed among the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy and preserves a charming medieval historic center. Sambucheto is its most populous hamlet, located along the Potenza valley: it is here, in the public gardens, that the Il Sambuco Association enlivens the local calendar with events throughout the year, from summer to the Christmas period.
