The lemon celebration on the Trappeto seafront, featuring tastings, traditional Sicilian carts, and folk music.
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Lemon Festival is one of the most beloved events of the summer in Trappeto, a small town in the Metropolitan City of Palermo overlooking the Gulf of Castellammare in Sicily. The event celebrates the lemon, a historic agricultural product of the region that local farmers continue to cultivate using traditional, almost artisanal methods, and which has always been a symbol of island identity, celebrated in Sicilian art and literature.
The festival takes place on the Lungomare San Giovanni Paolo II, the town's open-air living room facing the sea. Part of the Estate Trappetese (Trappeto Summer) calendar, the festival falls during the peak of Ferragosto, when the village is bustling with vacationers and residents, and the seafront becomes the hub of evening life.
The program blends taste, tradition, and entertainment. Along the promenade, exhibition and tasting stands are set up, featuring local specialties whose flavors are enhanced by the scent and aroma of Trappeto lemons. The evenings are enlivened by folk performances, music, and entertainment:
The Lemon Festival is organized by the Municipality of Trappeto, with the support of the Regional Department of Agriculture, with the aim of promoting the commercialization of a product grown using traditional and organic methods and boosting the tourism image of the town, which has a strong seaside vocation, especially in the summer months. Admission is free, and the family-friendly format makes the festival a perfect opportunity to discover an authentic Sicilian seaside village far from the major tourist circuits.
The 2026 edition of the Lemon Festival in Trappeto has not yet been officially scheduled. The event, organized by the Municipality as part of the Estate Trappetese, traditionally takes place during the Ferragosto period on the Lungomare San Giovanni Paolo II. Dates and a detailed program will be published by the municipal administration in the weeks leading up to the event.
Trappeto is located along the Tyrrhenian coast of Sicily, in the Gulf of Castellammare, about 50 km from Palermo. By car, it can be reached via the A29 Palermo-Mazara motorway (Trappeto exit) or the SS113 road. The nearest train station is Trappeto, on the Palermo-Trapani line.
The event is held on the Lungomare San Giovanni Paolo II, in the town center, overlooking the sea.
Access to the festival is free.
Ferragosto evenings are very busy: it is advisable to reach the seafront early. Take advantage of the day to enjoy the beaches and the sea of the Gulf of Castellammare.
