Six days dedicated to the environment, water, and future cities
The Lecco Sustainability Festival is the event that invites the city each spring to reflect on its relationship with the environment. Promoted by the Municipality of Lecco together with Legambiente and the partners of the River Contract, it reaches its fifth edition in 2026, a sign of an event now rooted in Lecco's cultural calendar.
The 2026 edition revolves around the theme "New urban realities between living waters and circular resources". At its core is the relationship between the city and its waterways—a theme particularly felt in Lecco, which overlooks Lake Como and is crossed by streams—and the challenge of the circular economy and ecological transition.
For six days, from March 24 to 29, Lecco hosts a packed schedule of events: talks on climate and ecological transition, conferences on sustainable energy and river valorization, workshops on microplastics and environmental education, reuse ecolabs, itinerant birdwatching, documentary screenings, and even an evening poetry slam. A program that alternates scientific dissemination, culture, and experiential activities, designed to engage citizens of all ages.
The closing, on Sunday, March 29, is among the most evocative: a 10 km walk starting from the Acquate church and, in the evening, a theatrical performance at the Teatro Sorelle Villa, powered by energy produced by a collective cycling session. An original and coherent way to conclude a festival that makes sustainability not just a theme, but a concrete practice, in the heart of the Province of Lecco and the Lombardy Region.
