The enchanted village of the Alpe Cimbra at 1,200 meters
The Lavarone Christmas Market is one of the most evocative holiday events in Trentino. It takes place in the historic center of the Bertoldi "veci" hamlet, in Lavarone, in the heart of the Alpe Cimbra, at an altitude of about 1,200 meters. Here, among cobbled alleys and ancient stone vaults restored by the residents themselves, the village turns into a fairy-tale setting made of soft lights, wooden chalets, and the scent of spices. Established in 2019 by the Pro Loco Lavarone, the market has grown year after year, now attracting over 25,000 visitors.
The route winds through more than thirty-five selected exhibitors offering the best of Alpine craftsmanship and typical Trentino products:
To warm up the winter atmosphere, there is no shortage of mulled wine, hot chocolate, and the scent of cinnamon and freshly baked strudel, also served in personalized reusable mugs.
The market is not just about shopping: throughout the duration of the event, the village comes alive with mountain choirs, accordion groups, and bagpipers accompanying strolls with roaming music. Among the most anticipated appointments:
Located in the Municipality of Lavarone, in the Province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige), the market is easily accessible and equipped with two large parking lots. On days with higher attendance, a shuttle service with a tourist train is available. An ideal destination to experience the magic of Christmas in the mountains, immersed in Cimbrian tradition and the evocative setting of the Trentino plateaus.
The sixth edition of the Lavarone Christmas Market took place from November 29, 2025, to January 5, 2026, open on weekends and holidays from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The official inauguration on November 29 at 5:00 PM featured a parade by the Folgaria Folk Band, accompanied by ski instructors and the local ski team.
During the opening weeks, the village of Bertoldi hosted mountain choirs, accordion groups, and bagpipers, with the spectacular Krampus parade on December 20 at 5:00 PM, the arrival of Santa Claus on December 24, and the Befana on January 5, 2026. There were also animated readings, workshops for children, potato polenta tastings, and wood carving demonstrations.
Lavarone can be reached by car from the A22 Brenner motorway (Trento Nord or Rovereto Nord exit) by heading up towards the Cimbrian Plateaus. The Bertoldi hamlet is just a few minutes from the center. Two large parking lots are available, and on days with higher attendance, a shuttle service with a tourist train is provided.
