A Carnival celebration in the heart of Lacco Ameno

Every year, on Shrove Tuesday, the central Piazza Santa Restituta in Lacco Ameno transforms into a cheerful fun village. In the smallest municipality on the island of Ischia, in the province of Naples and the heart of Campania, the Lacco Ameno Carnival is an event primarily aimed at children and families, filling the square with confetti, masks, and laughter in the late afternoon.

The program: parades, sweets, and street performers

The festivities kick off in the early afternoon with the grand costume and mask parade: children in disguise, imaginative characters, and colorful masks take over Piazza Santa Restituta, bringing their creativity to life. The program continues with many activities dedicated to the little ones:

• Sweet stands and the essential cotton candy;
• Face painting and creative workshops;
• Playful activities and entertainment games;
• Moments of music and entertainment with street performers and entertainers, featuring skill, comedy, and magic.

The Lacco Ameno Carnival is part of a broader calendar of initiatives that, during the Carnival days, brings the entire island of Ischia to life with squares, shows, and events for children and families. Famous for its characteristic Fungo rock and its thermal springs, Lacco Ameno welcomes residents and visitors in one of its most evocative squares, dominated by the sanctuary dedicated to Santa Restituta, the island's patron saint.
