Springtime in the marble village of Lasa, in Val Venosta
Laaser Frühling is the spring festival that brings the centre of Lasa/Laas to life every year. Known as the village of white marble, it is located in the Val Venosta (Vinschgau) valley, in the province of Bolzano, in the Trentino-Alto Adige region. For about two weeks in May, the streets, squares, and shops of the village are dressed up for the occasion, offering a series of events designed for both residents and visitors, blending the town's commercial life with cultural initiatives, readings, and family-friendly moments.
Lasa is known throughout South Tyrol as the Marmordorf, or marble village: it is the source of the prized white Lasa marble, used for monuments and works of art all over the world. The village sits at an altitude of approximately 868 metres, nestled among the apricot and apple orchards that define the lower Val Venosta. The spring festival is the ideal opportunity to explore this setting: stroll through the centre, visit the Marmorwelt (the Lasa marble world), and soak up the atmosphere of a mountain village awakening with the arrival of the warmer season.
The Laaser Frühling programme combines a variety of offerings. There are plenty of storytelling and reading sessions, with events held in the library and at the Marmorwelt for both children and adults, often accompanied by live music. A special focus is placed on Mother's Day, with special offers, small gifts, and initiatives organised by local shops. The businesses and venues belonging to the Laaser Aktionsgemeinschaft, the association that organises the festival, offer dedicated promotions and small celebrations that involve the entire community.
Laaser Frühling is much more than just a commercial initiative: it is the festival with which Lasa welcomes the arrival of spring, celebrating its traditions, its marble-related heritage, and the typical hospitality of South Tyrol.
The 2026 Laaser Frühling was held from May 2 to 17, offering sixteen days packed with promotions, events, and a spring atmosphere in the centre of Lasa/Laas.
Among the scheduled events, Friday, May 8 was dedicated to fairy tales: in the afternoon at 4:00 PM, the Lasa library hosted a reading for children aged 5 and up, while in the evening at 7:30 PM, the Marmorwelt presented stories for adults, accompanied by live music. On Sunday, May 10, for Mother's Day, local shops offered special promotions and small gifts. On Saturday, May 16, among other activities, the 70th anniversary of a historic local business was celebrated with sausages and pretzels.
Lasa/Laas is located in Val Venosta, in the province of Bolzano. By car, it can be reached via the SS38 Stelvio state road; by train, the Val Venosta line (Merano-Malles) stops at the Lasa station. From Bolzano, continue towards Merano and then along the valley in the direction of Silandro/Malles.
The festival takes place in May and lasts for about two weeks. Events are concentrated in the village centre, the library, and at the Marmorwelt.
Most events are free to attend; some cultural appointments may require booking. For the updated programme and details, please visit the official website www.laas.it.
