The village festival on the lake

La Zzurla is the historic festival of Monte del Lago, a charming hamlet in the municipality of Magione, in the province of Perugia, known as "the balcony over the Lake" for its position overlooking Lake Trasimeno. The name derives from the local dialect and encapsulates the spirit of the event: the desire to play, be together, and have fun.

'Zzurlini', the symbolic dish

The gastronomic heart of the festival is the 'zzurlini', a typical local egg pasta dressed with a sauce made from perch fillets, the queen fish of Lake Trasimeno. Alongside them, other specialties of Umbrian lake cuisine complete an offering that celebrates local products.

Candlelit dinners

One of the most beloved experiences of La Zzurla are the candlelit dinners held in the garden of Villa Aganoor Pompilj: tables set up in front of the lake, in a romantic atmosphere that comes alive at sunset, when Lake Trasimeno is tinged with a thousand colours. Every evening, live music in the village square entertains visitors.

An authentic Trasimeno experience

La Zzurla is much more than a sagra (food festival): it's an opportunity to discover a medieval village off the beaten tourist track, enjoy the slow pace of Umbria, and savour lake cuisine in a unique setting. The event is organised by the Pro Monte del Lago Association.
