The cultural summer of Versilia featuring music, theatre, and comedy in the pine forest of Marina di Pietrasanta
For decades, the La Versiliana Festival has been the beating heart of the cultural summer in Versilia. It takes place in Marina di Pietrasanta, a district of the municipality of Pietrasanta in the province of Lucca, set within the evocative pine forest surrounding the historic Villa La Versiliana—a place cherished by Gabriele D'Annunzio and generations of artists and intellectuals. The open-air theatre stage, framed by maritime pines just a stone's throw from the sea, offers a setting unique in all of Tuscany.
Promoted by the Versiliana Foundation, the festival offers over twenty-five evenings of entertainment each summer, spanning diverse genres and styles: major concerts by Italian singer-songwriters and pop stars, theatrical plays, comedy and cabaret nights, dance, and tributes to musical legends. Alongside the evening programme, the festival comes alive during the day with events that have made the festival famous.
One of the hallmarks of La Versiliana is the Incontri al Caffè della Versiliana, a series of free-entry cultural conversations held every afternoon. Journalists, writers, politicians, artists, and celebrities take the stage to discuss current affairs, social trends, and culture with the public. They have become an institution that has accompanied the Versilia summer for years.
The festival also pays great attention to younger audiences with La Versiliana dei Piccoli: experiential workshops, theatrical performances, open-air cinema, and creative and musical activities designed for children and families, which animate the dedicated 'Arena dei Piccoli' in the pine forest every afternoon.
With its long history, the La Versiliana Festival has established itself as one of the most beloved and recognizable cultural events on the Tuscan coast, successfully blending artistic excellence with the charm of a symbol of Versilia holiday culture. Every summer, it draws thousands of spectators to the pine forest—including residents, tourists, and enthusiasts from all over Italy—confirming its status as an essential landmark for those spending their holidays in Versilia.
The La Versiliana Festival 2026 celebrates its 47th edition with over twenty-five evenings of entertainment in the pine forest of Marina di Pietrasanta, from July 17 to August 23. The curtain rises on July 17 with the Omaggio a Morricone - Musiche da Oscar, dedicated to the unforgettable soundtracks of maestro Ennio Morricone.
Among the protagonists of Italian music expected on stage are Ermal Meta (August 3), Arisa (August 7), Noemi (August 10), Patty Pravo (August 14), Mario Biondi (August 20), Levante (August 21), and Raf (August 22). The programme also includes tribute nights to singer-songwriters, with a tribute to Fabrizio De André voiced by his son Cristiano and an evening dedicated to the memory of Lucio Dalla, as well as international events such as the t.A.T.u. concert (July 29), the show The Wall - Pink Floyd History (August 6), and a K-pop evening dedicated to younger audiences (August 12).
There is also ample space for theatre and storytelling: Sigfrido Ranucci with 'Diario di un trapezista' (July 18), Pablo Trincia with 'L'uomo sbagliato' (July 25), Edoardo Leo with 'Ti racconto una storia' (July 31), and the show 'Francesco', based on texts by Aldo Cazzullo with music by Angelo Branduardi (August 4).
Laughter is guaranteed with shows by Jonathan Canini (July 26) and Antonio Ornano (August 5).
The Incontri al Caffè return with free entry, coordinated by Alessandro Sallusti and scheduled from early July, along with La Versiliana dei Piccoli featuring workshops and shows for families every afternoon in the pine forest.
The festival is held at the Teatro La Versiliana, Viale Morin 16, Marina di Pietrasanta (Municipality of Pietrasanta, province of Lucca), inside the Villa La Versiliana pine forest.
