The city half-marathon in the heart of Monferrato
La Mezza di Asti is a 21-kilometre road race that draws hundreds of runners every year to the capital of the province of the same name, located in the heart of Piedmont and the Monferrato region. Organized by the sports association A.S.D. GATE - CRAL INPS, the event has become a staple of the Piedmontese spring running calendar, with the start and finish line located at the Campo Scuola Sports Hall on Via Gerbi.
The course is flat and traverses the heart of the city and its surrounding districts, mostly utilizing cycle paths. The 21-kilometre route passes some of Asti's most iconic spots, from the Passeggiata Lungo Borbore to Piazza Marconi, and from Corso Alessandria to the city centre streets, offering participants a true panoramic tour of the city. Please note that the event is not FIDAL-certified; therefore, times are not recorded in official federal rankings, though this does nothing to diminish the competitive and convivial spirit of the race.
La Mezza di Asti is designed as an amateur event that balances the competitive drive of seasoned runners with the pure enjoyment of those tackling the distance for fun. The race regularly attracts hundreds of participants from running clubs across Piedmont and beyond, creating an atmosphere of healthy competition and sporting celebration.
Running La Mezza di Asti is an opportunity to discover one of Piedmont's landmark cities, famous for its medieval towers, the Palio, and the UNESCO-listed wines of Monferrato. The race is also a chance to experience the city from a sporting perspective, with traffic diversions in place and the centre coming alive as the runners pass through.
