The historic October fair in Latiano featuring crafts, local flavors, and traditions
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
La Fera is the most iconic event in Latiano, a town in the province of Brindisi, in the heart of the Salento region of Puglia. Established by a prefectural decree in 1866, following a municipal council resolution in 1861 and provincial approval in 1865, it is one of the oldest fairs in Puglia and has been held continuously for over 150 years. Originally linked to the livestock, tool, and goods market, it has evolved over time into a grand community festival that marks the arrival of autumn.
The Municipality of Latiano defines La Fera as a true showcase of local crafts and commerce. Hundreds of exhibitors from across Southern Italy set up along the town's streets and squares, with stalls dedicated to local products, handicrafts, clothing, and homeware. Officially recognized as an October Fair of regional importance, it maintains its popular character and its role as a meeting point for the entire Salento territory.
The "Sounds, Flavors, and Traditions" program accompanies the fair with a rich schedule of free-admission events. Piazza Umberto I hosts a succession of concerts, folk music performances, tributes to great Italian artists, author meetings, culinary workshops, and activities for families and children. Pizzica and Salento music blend with contemporary offerings, providing a vivid portrait of the town's culture.
The highlight of the festival is the Sagra ti li Stacchioddi, organized for over thirty years by the Pro Loco of Latiano: a celebration of handmade fresh pasta, the "stacchioddi" (the typical Puglian orecchiette), seasoned according to local rural tradition. It is an opportunity to rediscover the most authentic Salento gastronomy amidst aromas, flavors, and conviviality.
More than just a simple fair, La Fera represents a piece of collective identity for Latiano and the entire Brindisi province area. Strolling among the stalls, listening to music in the squares, and savoring traditional dishes means immersing oneself in a festival that has passed down memories, crafts, and flavors for generations in the heart of Puglia.
The dates and program for the 2026 edition of La Fera of Latiano have not yet been announced. The event traditionally takes place between late September and early October in Piazza Umberto I and the historic center, with exhibitors, free concerts, and the Sagra ti li Stacchioddi. To find out the updated calendar, we recommend following the official channels of the Municipality of Latiano and the La Fera Facebook page.
Latiano is located in the province of Brindisi, well-connected by the SS7 state road (Via Appia). By car, it can be reached via the Latiano exit along the SS7 between Brindisi and Taranto. By train, the Latiano station is served by the Adriatic line; the nearest airports are Brindisi-Salento and Bari-Palese.
The event takes place in the historic center and in Piazza Umberto I. All events on the program are free to attend. Dates vary each year between the second half of September and the first few days of October.
We recommend checking the official channels of the Municipality of Latiano and the La Fera Facebook page for the updated program and concert times in the square.
