About Konzertsommer Kastelbell

The Konzertsommer Schloss Kastelbell is a summer concert series hosted at the medieval Kastelbell Castle (Schloss Kastelbell) in the Vinschgau Valley, located in the municipality of Kastelbell-Tschars (Autonomous Province of Bolzano, South Tyrol). Between July and August, the fortress overlooking the Adige River hosts a series of evenings dedicated to classical, chamber, and traditional Alpine music, featuring ensembles and soloists from South Tyrol alongside international guests. A refined event that blends great music with historical heritage.

The Konzertsommer at Kastelbell Castle

The Konzertsommer Schloss Kastelbell is a summer concert festival organized by the Kastelbell Castle Curatorium (Kuratorium Schloss Kastelbell) in the municipality of Kastelbell-Tschars, in the Vinschgau Valley, within the Autonomous Province of Bolzano (South Tyrol). Every year, between July and August, the halls and courtyards of this medieval fortress become the setting for a series of musical evenings ranging from classical and chamber music to traditional Alpine folk.

A medieval fortress as a concert hall

Kastelbell Castle stands on a rocky spur on the left bank of the Adige River, dominating the Vinschgau Valley floor. Its historic rooms, restored and maintained by the Curatorium, offer intimate acoustics and a unique atmosphere, where the audience can enjoy live music just steps away from the performers. The combination of architectural heritage and musical programming makes the Konzertsommer one of the most evocative cultural experiences of the Vinschgau summer.

The musical program

Each season, the festival offers a selection of concerts, usually starting at 8:30 PM, featuring string quartets, cello ensembles, guitar duos, traditional folk groups, and classical-romantic formations. Many events are organized in collaboration with the Südtiroler Kulturinstitut, the local educational committee (Bildungsausschuss), and other local cultural institutions, showcasing both South Tyrolean musicians and guests from outside the province.

Practical information

The Konzertsommer takes place at Kastelbell Castle, located on Via del Castello in Kastelbell-Tschars. For the updated calendar, ticket prices, and reservations, we recommend contacting the Castle Curatorium via email at [email protected] or by visiting the official festival website.
