The classical culture festival of Lodi
The Kàlamos Festival is the classical culture festival of Lodi, the provincial capital in Lombardy, conceived by the Lodi delegation of AICC — Italian Association of Classical Culture. For three days, the city hosts a widespread program of free events dedicated to literature, art, philosophy, theatre, and archaeology, with the aim of making the legacy of the ancient world alive and accessible.
The events take place in some of the most evocative locations in the city: the Cloister of the Province, the Aula Magna of the Liceo Verri, the Cloister of the Old Hospital, Piazza Broletto, the Ex Caffè Letterario, and the Cosway Foundation. Particularly significant is the stop at the archaeological area of Laus Pompeia, in Lodi Vecchio, the site of the ancient Roman city from which Lodi draws its origins.
The program alternates academic talks, theatrical performances based on the classics, workshops for children, and exhibitions, each year focusing on a different theme. It is a formula that combines rigor and dissemination, capable of engaging scholars, students, families, and the simply curious. With the Kàlamos Festival, Lodi reaffirms its connection with classical culture and the Roman roots of the territory.
The third edition of the Kàlamos Festival is held in Lodi from May 7 to 10, 2026, on the theme "Ancient Skies". The classical culture festival, conceived by the Lodi delegation of AICC, offers free events spread throughout the city dedicated to literature, art, philosophy, theatre, and archaeology. Among the venues: the Cloister of the Province, the Aula Magna of the Liceo Verri, the Cloister of the Old Hospital, Piazza Broletto, the archaeological area of Laus Pompeia in Lodi Vecchio, the Ex Caffè Letterario, and the Cosway Foundation. The program includes academic talks, workshops for children, theatrical performances (such as Euripides' "Helen"), and exhibitions.
The detailed program with times and venues is published on the AICC Lodi website.
