The pink charity run/walk between Susa and Mompantero for university cancer research
Every year, around March 8th, Just the Woman I Am arrives in the Susa Valley with a local event spread across the towns of Susa and Mompantero, in the Metropolitan City of Turin (Piedmont). It is the local branch of the major run/walk organized by CUS Torino in the regional capital: a non-competitive event, truly open to all, that combines sport, solidarity, health, and prevention.
The run/walk follows a roughly 5 km course that winds through the most picturesque spots of Susa and reaches the foothills of Mount Rocciamelone in the territory of Mompantero. The start is set at Piazzale Arsenio Favro in Susa, and the route can be completed by running or simply walking: there are no timers or rankings, because the spirit of the event is participation, not performance.
The heart of the event is fundraising for university cancer research: registration fees fund scholarships and scientific projects at the University and Polytechnic of Turin. The walk is accompanied by awareness-raising moments on prevention and healthy lifestyles, in collaboration with the ASL TO3 health authority, with a strong focus on gender equality, inclusion, and well-being.
Beyond the run, the morning is enriched with entertainment: dance performances, refreshments offered by the Susa Red Cross volunteers, and many participants dressed in themed outfits, often accompanied by their dogs. In recent years, the Susa Valley stage has regularly exceeded one hundred participants, confirming it as a cherished appointment for the Susa and Mompantero community, capable of transforming a Sunday in March into a widespread celebration filled with pink shirts, smiles, and a commitment to solidarity.
Susa can be reached by car via the A32 Turin-Bardonecchia motorway (Susa Est/Ovest exit) and by train using regional lines from Turin Porta Nuova towards the Susa Valley. The start is at Piazzale Arsenio Favro, in the center of Susa, just a few minutes from the station.
Registrations can be made at the Susa Pro Loco office or online on the official website jtwia.org. The registration fee includes the official t-shirt and a personalized race bib; proceeds are donated to research.
The event is suitable for families and children, and you are welcome to participate with your dog. Comfortable clothing and walking or running shoes are recommended: the route is simple and accessible.
