Jazz spread across the squares of Faggiano, in the heart of the Taranto Murge
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Jonio Jazz Festival is one of the most deeply rooted jazz events in the Taranto area. Every year, in the heart of summer, the small town of Faggiano — a village in the Taranto Murge in the province of Taranto, Puglia — turns into a large open-air stage. The streets and squares of the historic center welcome Italian and international musicians in a widespread musical journey designed to foster a dialogue between tradition and experimentation.
The formula is now a trademark: two evenings, three squares, six concerts. Performances take place simultaneously and in succession between Largo Sandro Pertini, Largo Vittorio Emanuele, and Largo San Nicola, allowing the audience to move from one stage to another and experience the town as a single musical organism. The program spans from sophisticated improvisations to popular-inspired tracks, from Latin sounds to contemporary fusion, and tributes to the great jazz masters.
Founded around 2010, the Jonio Jazz Festival reached its sixteenth edition in 2025, confirming its status as a landmark for genre enthusiasts throughout the Ionian province. The artistic direction is entrusted to Piero De Quarto, the soul of the Jonio Jazz Cantieri Culturali Association, which organizes the event under the patronage of the Municipality of Faggiano. Over the years, the festival has hosted prominent names from the national and international scene while maintaining a strong commitment to the local area and intergenerational connection.
The Jonio Jazz experience does not end in Faggiano: after the evenings in the village, the festival traditionally continues with stops in other towns in the Taranto area, such as Manduria, expanding its reach and bringing jazz into new urban and landscape contexts in northern Salento.
Those looking for an event that combines great music, tradition, and local territory will find the Jonio Jazz Festival to be one of the most evocative summer experiences in the province of Taranto.
The 2026 edition of the Jonio Jazz Festival in Faggiano (province of Taranto, Puglia) is expected during the summer. At the moment, neither the official dates nor the concert program have been announced. The event, organized by the Jonio Jazz Cantieri Culturali Association under the artistic direction of Piero De Quarto, is expected to feature the format that made it famous: multiple evenings in the historic center squares with free admission. This page will be updated as soon as the organization releases the details.
Faggiano is located about 20 km from Taranto. By car: exit Taranto towards Faggiano along the provincial roads of the Ionian hinterland. The reference railway station is Taranto, which is well-connected to the main cities of Puglia; from there, you can continue by car or bus to the town.
Concerts are held in the squares of the historic center (Largo Sandro Pertini, Largo Vittorio Emanuele, Largo San Nicola) with free admission. Evenings generally begin in the early evening (around 9:00 PM).
