A round of the Italian Trial Championship in the mountains of the Modenese Apennines
In Fiumalbo, a small village in the Province of Modena nestled in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines and listed among the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy, one of the most evocative rounds of the Italian Trial Championship organized by the Italian Motorcycle Federation (FMI) takes place. The event is managed by the Abestone Motorcycle Club, chaired by Michele Bosi, which for years has brought an event to this area of Emilia-Romagna that combines sport, technique, and landscape.
Trial is a motorcycle discipline focused on balance, control, and precision rather than speed: riders must overcome natural and artificial obstacles—rocks, steps, logs, water jumps, steep slopes—without ever putting a foot down. Any touch, fall, or mistake incurs penalties, and the rider with the fewest points wins. It's a spectacle best enjoyed up close, following the champions zone by zone along courses designed in the woods and among the rocky areas of the Apennines.
The race brings together the Elite classes of the championship—TR1, TR2, TR3, TR3 125, and Women's—with the presence of the best national competitors and some international-level riders. Alongside the Elite, significant space is dedicated to the Italian MiniTrial Championship, reserved for the youngest riders (from 8 years old), divided into categories A, B, C, Mono, and Entry: a true talent incubator that makes the event suitable for families too.
The Fiumalbo round is much more than a competition: it's an opportunity to discover an authentic corner of the mountainous Emilia-Romagna region, with fresh high-altitude air, trails, Apennine gastronomy, and the hospitality of a municipality that has made trial a consolidated tradition. The challenging and spectacular course is set up each year by the Abestone Motorcycle Club in the vicinity of the village.
The event is covered through the Federation's official channels: FedermotoTV, the portal trial.federmoto.it, the Sportity app for real-time rankings, and the official social media. Public access along the zones is the typical format for these outdoor events.
The Fiumalbo round on May 9-10, 2026, represented the second round of the Italian Trial Championship, the first of the season structured over two distinct race days. On Saturday, May 9th, only the Elite classes competed with the "Fast / Race 1" format; on Sunday, May 10th, all categories raced, along with the very young participants of the Italian MiniTrial Championship.
On the challenging course set up by the Abestone Motorcycle Club in the Modenese Apennines, 92 participants competed over the weekend, plus 32 young riders in the MiniTrial. The setting of the village of Fiumalbo, one of Italy's most beautiful, confirmed the region's dedication to this discipline.
In the premier class, Jaime Busto (Beta) won both days, ahead of championship leader Matteo Grattarola; completing the podium was Francesco Titli on a Montesa. Among other mentioned protagonists were Arnau Farré, Fabio Mazzola, Gabriele Saleri, and, in the women's category, Andrea Sofia Rabino and Alice Parodi.
