An Indian village in the heart of Frignano, between tepees, dances, and spirituality
The Native American Festival - The Drum of the Heart brings a rare and fascinating cultural experience to Pavullo nel Frignano, in the province of Modena: the recreation of an authentic American Indian village, set up in the recreational area of Paradiso dei Pini. For three days, the Modenese Apennines come alive with tents, dances, songs, and stories that convey the spiritual and symbolic richness of the North American native peoples.
The heart of the festival is the typical village, with its handmade and decorated tepee tents: conical structures of wooden poles covered with canvas, recreating the traditional dwelling of the Plains peoples. Inside and around the village, you can observe traditional costumes and clothing, feathered headdresses, masks, utensils, tools, and weapons that were part of the daily life of these legendary peoples.
Among the most anticipated moments are the tribal dances, performed in ceremonial costumes and masks. For Native Americans, dance was not just a spectacle but a form of expression, communication, and prayer. The public can witness the famous Rain Dance, a propitiatory ritual practiced to invoke rain during dry periods. Songs, stories, legends, and ceremonies of ancient shamans complete a program designed to immerse visitors in the symbolic and spiritual world of these cultures.
The festival is an event suitable for all ages. Themed stands, craft demonstrations, and educational and engaging activities allow children and families to directly and participatively approach the traditions, music, and spirituality of Native Americans. The evocative atmosphere of Paradiso dei Pini, immersed in the green of the Apennines, provides the ideal setting for this cultural immersion.
Included in the official program of summer events for the Municipality of Pavullo nel Frignano, the Native American Festival enriches the cultural offerings of Emilia-Romagna with an original proposal, far from the classic village fairs. It's an opportunity to discover a corner of the Apennines and, at the same time, travel with your imagination through the prairies and rituals of distant peoples.
