Sport Festival of Pavullo nel Frignano

A showcase of sport in the centre of Pavullo

The Sport Festival is the event that, every September, transforms the streets and squares of the town centre of Pavullo nel Frignano into a large open-air stage dedicated to movement. For an entire day, local sports associations present themselves to the public with stands, demonstrations, and exhibitions, offering children, teenagers, and adults the chance to try dozens of different disciplines for free. It's a popular and participatory festival, designed to showcase the many sporting opportunities offered by the Modenese Apennines.

The disciplines featured

Along the event route, stands of local sports organisations alternate, each offering practical trials. Among the activities that liven up the day are usually:

• Team sports: football, basketball, and volleyball
• Individual sports: tennis, swimming, judo, taekwondo, running, and trail running
• Mountain sports: cycling, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, and climbing
• Dance and movement: classical and modern dance, Pilates, recreational and multi-sport activities

The local section of the CAI (Italian Alpine Club) of Pavullo traditionally participates with its climbing wall, set up near Piazzale San Bartolomeo, to offer the thrill of climbing in safety.

A festival for the whole family

The initiative is promoted by the Municipality of Pavullo nel Frignano, in the Province of Modena, and is part of the rich summer and early autumn calendar that accompanies the town in Emilia-Romagna throughout the beautiful season. The objective is twofold: on one hand, to introduce new generations to sport and outdoor physical activity, and on the other, to promote the Frignano area as an ideal destination for an active holiday, with trails, slopes, and facilities immersed in the nature of the Apennines.
