The Abruzzo stage of the Italian Tractor Pulling Championship at the Villanova di Cepagatti arena
The Italian Tractor Pulling Championship stops at the arena in Villanova, a district of the municipality of Cepagatti, in the province of Pescara. This event, part of the Cepagatti summer calendar, brought this motorsport discipline to central-southern Italy for the first time in 2025, in a region, Abruzzo, where tractor pulling was almost unknown to the general public.
Tractor pulling is a motorsport born in the United States and popular throughout Europe. Heavily modified tractors and trucks compete, equipped with engines derived from aviation, heavy vehicles, and agricultural machinery, fueled by diesel, gasoline, or ethanol. The goal is as simple as it is spectacular: to pull a weighted sled as far as possible, which shifts its weight onto the front axle as it advances, reaching over 35 tons and making the pull increasingly difficult. The winner is the one who covers the greatest distance, with the most powerful vehicles capable of exceeding 100 meters.
The Villanova stage brings together over 40 teams from all over Italy, divided into the main championship categories:
Between the roar of the engines, plumes of smoke, and sudden accelerations, tractor pulling offers an adrenaline-filled show that engages both motor enthusiasts and curious onlookers. In the 2025 debut edition, the Villanova arena attracted thousands of spectators, confirming the event's vocation as a great popular festival as well as a sporting competition. The arena is designed to welcome families and fans, with the opportunity to follow the vehicles and teams closely in the pits.
Villanova is the most populous district of Cepagatti, a municipality in the province of Pescara overlooking the Pescara valley and well-connected to the Abruzzo motorway network. The new arena dedicated to pulling has made the town a reference point for this discipline in Central-Southern Italy, placing Abruzzo on the national Tractor Pulling Italia circuit.
The Italian Tractor Pulling Championship stops in Villanova di Cepagatti on Saturday, August 22, 2026, with races starting at 3:00 PM in the dedicated arena. Following the success of the Abruzzo debut, the event will once again feature the national circuit's categories, from Prosport and Diesel tractors to Modified vehicles and Trucks. The final list of competing teams will be announced by the organizers closer to the date.
The arena is located in Villanova, a district of Cepagatti (PE). By car, we recommend the "Villanova" exit on the A25 motorway, just a few minutes from the event area. The reference train station is Chieti-Pescara.
Outdoor event: comfortable clothing and sun protection are recommended during the central hours of the day. Catering areas are generally available. For schedules, tickets, and updated details, it is advisable to check the channels of Tractor Pulling Italia and the Municipality of Cepagatti.
