The tricolour jerseys of amateur cycling among the Mugello hills
The Italian Master Road Cycling Championships represent the most important national event for Italian amateur cycling: at stake are the tricolour jerseys for each category, reserved for male and female Master riders, divided by age group. In 2026, the organization is entrusted to the territory of Scarperia e San Piero, in the Mugello municipality in the province of Florence, one of the most beloved areas for cycling enthusiasts due to the variety of its rolling terrain and its deep connection to the world of motorsport and sports in general.
The event takes place on Saturday, July 18th, and Sunday, July 19th, 2026, with the race office opening for registration on Friday, July 17th, at the school complex on Viale Matteotti, in Scarperia. The race headquarters, including the meeting point, start lines, and award ceremonies, will enliven the town centre, providing two days of sporting celebration for the entire Mugello village.
The two days feature separate events for the various Master categories:
The circuits, carved along the undulating roads of Mugello, test both legs and tactics: rolling sections, short climbs, and technical descents characterize a course that rewards consistency, effort management, and the ability to read the race.
Scarperia e San Piero is world-famous for hosting the Mugello International Circuit, home to the Italian Motorcycle Grand Prix, but the village also boasts a rich historical and artisanal heritage, from the tradition of knife-making to the medieval heart dominated by the Palazzo dei Vicari. The surrounding hills have always been a paradise for professional and amateur cyclists, ideal terrain for training and competitions that attract thousands of athletes to Tuscany every year.
Beyond the competitive aspect, the Championships bring the energy of a great popular festival dedicated to cycling to Mugello: families, support staff, and fans crowd the viewpoints along the routes, while the centre of Scarperia welcomes participants with typical Tuscan hospitality, featuring great food, local products, and a warm welcome. An event that combines sport, passion, and the promotion of the Tuscany region.
For 2026, the Italian Master Road Cycling Championships arrive in Scarperia e San Piero, in the Mugello, under the aegis of the Italian Cycling Federation. The programme is spread over two days with a logistics base on Viale Matteotti, where the race office opens on Friday, July 17th, for registration.
Saturday, July 18th, will feature categories M7, M8, M9, and M10, as well as Elite Women Sport and Master Women, competing on a 72.4-kilometre course. Sunday, July 19th, will be for the other categories: in the morning M5-M6 and M3-M4, in the afternoon Elite Sport with M1 and M2, on a longer 90.5-kilometre track. The registration fee is set at 30 euros.
Scarperia e San Piero is located in the Mugello region, in the province of Florence. By car, it can be reached via the A1 motorway (Barberino di Mugello exit) or the SS65 Bolognese-Futa road. By train, the reference station is Borgo San Lorenzo, on the Faentina line, with onward travel by bus or car. The nearest airport is Florence-Peretola.
Registration is carried out via the Fattore K portal with a copy of the bank transfer sent. The participation fee is 30 euros. The race office opens on Friday, July 17th, on Viale Matteotti, at the Scarperia school complex.
We recommend booking accommodation in advance: Mugello offers farmhouses, B&Bs, and hotels, but demand is high during the race weekend. Bring a water bottle and clothing suitable for the hot Tuscan summer.
