Snow polo at the foot of Mont Blanc
The Italia Polo Challenge is the international snow polo tournament that animates the hamlet of Entrèves, in Courmayeur (Province of Aosta), every January. On the snowy field at the entrance to Val Ferret, at the foot of the Italian side of Mont Blanc, horses and riders compete in one of the most fascinating and spectacular disciplines, in one of the most stunning natural settings in the Alps.
The tournament brings together six teams in a "three-on-three" format, with players from Italy, France, Argentina, and Germany. Four days of exciting matches, including qualifying rounds and finals, featuring both established professionals and renowned international polo names, including female captains and Argentine champions.
One of the aspects that makes the event unique is the opportunity to watch the matches for free: snow polo, often perceived as an elitist sport, thus opens up to the general public, offering residents and tourists a rare spectacle. The gallop of horses on the snow, with Mont Blanc in the background, creates images of strong scenic impact.
Organized by The Chukker Company with the support of the Municipality of Courmayeur and the Italian Equestrian Sports Federation, the Italia Polo Challenge is a recent event that has quickly earned a place in the resort's winter calendar, combining sport, elegance, and social life in one of the most glamorous showcases in the Aosta Valley.
