The road race around Lake Ledro, in the Garda Trentino region
LedroRunning is the road race that draws running enthusiasts every year to the picturesque Valle di Ledro, in the Municipality of Ledro, in the province of Trento and the Garda Trentino area. Organized by ASD Atletica Alto Garda e Ledro, the race was established in 2010 and has steadily become one of the highlights of the Trentino summer running calendar, with a constantly growing number of participants and spectators arriving from all over Italy.
The course measures approximately 9.36 km and completes a full loop of Lake Ledro, considered one of the cleanest swimmable basins in the entire Alpine region. The route is 80% asphalt and 20% dirt road, with a modest elevation gain of about 50 meters: a smooth and scenic loop, suitable both for those chasing a personal best and for those who simply want to enjoy the landscape. The start and finish are located in Molina di Ledro, in the former Colonia area, the logistical heart of the event.
LedroRunning is included in the national FIDAL calendar as a competitive road race. Alongside the competitive event, a non-competitive fun run takes place on the same route, open to families, walkers, and enthusiasts of all levels: an inclusive format that makes the event accessible to everyone, from seasoned runners to those who want to experience the valley step by step.
More than just a competition, LedroRunning is a community moment for the entire Valle di Ledro. The natural setting of the lake, nestled among the mountains of Trentino-Alto Adige, provides the backdrop for a day of outdoor sport that combines competition, social interaction, and local promotion. Garda Trentino, with its mild climate and landscapes, offers the ideal scenario to combine the race with a weekend of nature, trekking, and relaxation on the shores of the lake.
The seventeenth edition of LedroRunning will take place on Sunday, August 23, 2026, with the start set for 9:30 AM from Molina di Ledro. The route remains the one that made the event famous: the approximately 9.36 km loop around Lake Ledro, largely on asphalt with a section of dirt road, and a modest elevation gain.
The competitive race is included in the national FIDAL calendar, while the non-competitive fun run along the same route ensures participation for families and enthusiasts as well. Registration is available online on the official website.
Molina di Ledro can be reached by car from Riva del Garda by traveling up the Valle di Ledro (about 20 minutes). The nearest train station is Rovereto, on the Brenner line, from where you can continue by bus or car towards the Valle di Ledro.
Registration for both the competitive race and the non-competitive fun run is done online via the official website. For costs, categories, and regulations, please visit www.ledrorunning.it or email [email protected].
The area offers numerous accommodation options between Molina, Pieve di Ledro, and the shores of Lake Garda: ideal for combining the race with a stay in the Garda Trentino region.
