Two days of tradition, local cuisine, and neighborhood games in Tiarno di Sotto
In the height of summer, when the Ledro Valley welcomes visitors to its lakes and mountains, the village of Tiarno di Sotto — part of the Ledro municipality in the province of Trento — comes alive for two days of intense festivities. The Tiarno Ferragosto Festival is the most anticipated event of the year for the local community: a popular celebration organized by the Pro Loco of Tiarno di Sotto that blends fine dining, music, tradition, and village spirit.
The Tiarno Ferragosto is more than just a local fair: it is a time for the village to reconnect with its roots. The heart of the festivities is the Centro Feste in Via alla Sega, where two days of communal lunches, dinners, dances, and shows take place. Held on August 14th and 15th, the event invites everyone to share in the authentic conviviality of mountain life.
The most iconic and beloved part of the festival is the traditional neighborhood games, held in the main square on the afternoon of August 15th. Teams from the various districts of Tiarno di Sotto compete in tests of skill, strength, and agility, reviving old-fashioned games in a spirit of friendly rivalry and community participation. It is a moment where the village identity is renewed, filled with applause, cheering, and laughter before the evening awards ceremony.
Cuisine is the absolute star of the Tiarno Ferragosto, with traditional Trentino and Ledro dishes served at the Centro Feste:
The evenings of the Tiarno Ferragosto are animated by live music and dance parties: on the night of August 14th, guests dance to orchestral music, while on August 15th, the party continues late into the night with a disco and DJ set. Dance performances and entertainment accompany dinners and toasts, creating a festive atmosphere that unites the entire community and the many guests vacationing at Lake Ledro.
Located just a few kilometers from Lake Garda and the picturesque Lake Ledro, home to the famous Pile-Dwelling Museum, Tiarno di Sotto offers the perfect opportunity to experience the authenticity of a Trentino mountain village during the Ferragosto holiday. The Tiarno Ferragosto Festival is an invitation to discover the traditions, gastronomy, and hospitality of the Ledro Valley, in one of the most genuine summer festivals in Trentino.
Admission to the festival is free; you only pay for meals and drinks. The program and times may be subject to change: it is recommended to check with the Pro Loco of Tiarno di Sotto.
