Two days of debates and awards for the biggest names in Italian and international journalism, held in Lacco Ameno.
The Ischia International Journalism Award was established in 1980 and is now one of the most authoritative accolades in the Italian and European media landscape. Organized by the Fondazione Premio Ischia, it takes place annually in Lacco Ameno, an elegant town on the island of Ischia in the province of Naples, and enjoys the prestigious patronage of the President of the Republic.
For two days, the biggest names in Italian and international press meet on the 'Green Island' to openly discuss current affairs, geopolitics, and the evolution of information. The award perfectly blends the rigor of cultural debate with the charm of one of the most picturesque locations in the Gulf of Naples.
The heart of the event lies in the panel discussions and workshops featuring journalists, editors-in-chief, ambassadors, and key figures in communication. Topics range from major international scenarios and US-Europe relations to conflict coverage, media audience research, and the future of journalism in the digital age.
The most anticipated moment is the closing evening, traditionally held in the scenic Piazza Santa Restituta, the heart of Lacco Ameno, in front of the basilica dedicated to the island's patron saint. Here, awards are presented to the best Italian and international journalists of the year, alongside lifetime achievement awards and 'Communicator of the Year' honors. The ceremony is accompanied by musical performances, making it a cultural highlight for the entire community.
The Ischia Award showcases the island and the entire Campania region as a hub for culture, information, and quality tourism. Supported by the Campania Region and the Municipality of Lacco Ameno, the event brings top-tier media personalities to the island every summer, offering the public and guests a unique opportunity to engage with the major issues of our time against the stunning backdrop of the Gulf of Naples.
The 47th edition of the Ischia International Journalism Award was held on July 10-11, 2026, in Lacco Ameno, on the island of Ischia. Two days of discussion between major figures of Italian and international journalism, focusing on the theme USA and Europe 2026: challenges and opportunities in the new world order. The gala evening took place as tradition dictates in Piazza Santa Restituta, with the presentation of awards to the best protagonists of the media world.

Lacco Ameno is located on the island of Ischia, accessible by ferries and hydrofoils departing from Naples (Molo Beverello and Porta di Massa) and Pozzuoli. From the port of Ischia, you can continue by bus or taxi to Lacco Ameno; Piazza Santa Restituta is in the town center, just a short walk from the seafront.
Debates and the awards ceremony in Piazza Santa Restituta are traditionally open to the public. Some sessions are broadcast live on SkyTG24.
The event takes place during the peak summer season: it is highly recommended to book ferries and accommodation on the island well in advance. Lacco Ameno offers beaches, thermal spas, and traditional restaurants to complete your visit.
