The floral carpet that brings color to Termini Imerese in honor of the Madonna delle Grazie
The Infiorata Termitana is the grand spring festival of Termini Imerese, a town on the Tyrrhenian coast in the province of Palermo, Sicily. Every year in May, the central Via Giacinto Lo Faso is covered in a long, vibrant carpet of fresh petals and flowers, hand-laid by the Master Infioratori during a night of tireless work. The result is a colorful, fragrant path that draws thousands of visitors from across the island and beyond.
The event is rooted in the popular devotion to the Madonna delle Grazie; the Infiorata began as a floral tribute preceding and accompanying the neighborhood's religious festivities. Promoted by the Madonna delle Grazie Neighborhood Committee in collaboration with the Master Infioratori and supported by the Municipality of Termini Imerese, the festival weaves together devotional, artistic, and civic elements, involving the entire community in the creation of the displays.
The heart of the event lies in the large floral compositions that wind along the street: true paintings made from petals, seeds, and natural materials, each year inspired by a different theme. The works take shape on the night of the Infiorata, when volunteers and infioratori place the flowers until dawn, offering visitors a spectacular sight in the following days, both by day and during the atmospheric night visits.
A dense calendar of activities revolves around the floral carpet: the historical pageant, the procession of the Most Holy Crucifix, religious celebrations in honor of the Madonna delle Grazie, folk performances, live music, guided tours, and stalls offering street food and traditional Sicilian products. The Spring Fair and activities dedicated to families and children are also highlights.
The Infiorata Termitana is now one of the most beloved events in the spring calendar of the province of Palermo: a perfect opportunity to discover Termini Imerese in its most colorful and festive attire.
The 2026 edition of the Infiorata Termitana is scheduled from Friday, May 8th to Sunday, May 10th in Termini Imerese. The theme chosen this year is Love, expressed in all its forms through the large floral compositions that will cover Via Giacinto Lo Faso.
It begins on Friday, May 8th, with the start of the carpet preparation; on the night of the Infiorata, between Saturday and Sunday, the Master Infioratori complete the displays, which can also be visited in the evening. Sunday, May 10th, is the central day, with the opening of Via Giacinto Lo Faso, the historical pageant, and the procession of the Most Holy Crucifix. Surrounding the main event: guided tours, street food, gastronomy, music, and performances, all within the festivities in honor of the Madonna delle Grazie.
By car: Termini Imerese is easily accessible from the A19 Palermo-Catania motorway, taking the Termini Imerese exit. By train: The Termini Imerese station is served by the Palermo-Messina line and is just a few minutes from the center. By plane: The nearest airport is Palermo Falcone-Borsellino, approximately 60 km away.
The event traditionally takes place in May. The floral carpet can be viewed over several days, including evening and night openings.
Viewing the Infiorata along Via Giacinto Lo Faso is free and open-air.
