The festival of different forms and visions, where accessibility is method and difference is language
In March 2026, the Carani Theatre in Sassuolo, in the province of Modena, will host the first edition of Indisciplinato, subtitled the festival of different forms and visions. Three days designed as a meeting space where theatre becomes a tool for dialogue, inclusion, and collective growth. The idea that runs through the entire event is simple and radical: accessibility is not an add-on, it is the method; difference is not a limit, it is a language.
The festival is conceived and organized by Quinta Parete APS, a Sassuolo-based organization located on Via Pia, active in social theatre and accessible culture, with the artistic direction of Enrico Lombardi. The project brings artists with disabilities and companies that make inclusion their hallmark to the stage of the Carani, in performances described as lively, poetic, and irreverent.
The program is deliberately multidisciplinary and aims at diverse audiences: citizens, schools, families, and children. It ranges from autobiographical theatre to stand-up comedy, from interactive performance to family-friendly theatre-dance, to a talk session between the audience, artists, and cultural operators. Each proposal is accompanied by real accessibility services: live respeaking, live subtitling, and audio description.
In addition to the performances, the festival offers two permanent artistic installations for the duration of the event:
The venue is the Carani Theatre, a historic gem of Sassuolo inaugurated in 1930 and returned to the city after a long restoration completed in 2023. With its seats in the stalls, boxes, and galleries, it is now the main cultural space in the Municipality and an ideal setting for an event that aims to be both rigorous and popular. Indisciplinato is part of the cultural ferment of the Modena region, in a year when Modena is the protagonist as the Italian Capital of Volunteering 2026.
The inaugural edition of Indisciplinato animated the Carani Theatre in Sassuolo for three days, from March 20 to 22, 2026, with a multidisciplinary and fully accessible program.
The festival confirmed itself as a meeting space between artists with disabilities, inclusive companies, schools, and citizens, accompanying each event with respeaking, live subtitling, and audio description.
