The Celtic festival of the summer solstice in the historic center of Riolo Terme
Incantum — Litha, Midsummer Spells is the Celtic and fantasy festival that enlivens the historic center of Riolo Terme, a small spa town in the province of Ravenna, in the heart of the Terre di Faenza in Emilia-Romagna. The event celebrates Litha, the summer solstice period (between June 21st and 25th) which for the Celtic, Gallic, and Germanic peoples marked a sacred moment: the festival of fertility and rebirth, during which the druids celebrated the Sun and "helped" it to bless Nature.
Organized by the Pro Loco of Riolo Terme — already the creator of the famous Celtic New Year's Eve of Samhain at Halloween — with the support of the National Union of Pro Loco of Italy, the Municipality of Riolo Terme, and organizations like Ombre d'Arte, Incantum offers two days full of magic. Along the streets of the village, you will encounter fantastic creatures, listen to live music, and discover crafts and traditions from a distant and legendary time.
Between theatrical performances, children's entertainment, and participatory activities, Incantum is designed to engage both adults and children. Admission is free, and the atmosphere, made of lights, costumes, and fantasy suggestions, transforms the village of Riolo Terme into an enchanted world for an entire midsummer weekend.
For its second edition, Incantum — Litha, Midsummer Spells takes place on Saturday, June 27th and Sunday, June 28th, 2026 in the historic center of Riolo Terme. The festival celebrates the summer solstice with two days dedicated to Celtic culture and fantasy.
The program includes the elements that made the event popular: the themed market inspired by Celtic culture, the Lupi Feudi encampment, the parade of fantastic creatures, workshops and conferences on Celtic spirituality and witchcraft, divination, and in the Public Gardens, the enormous dragon Tiberio that protects Incantum. There are also food stalls with good food and craft beer organized by the Pro Loco.
The festival is enhanced by live music from Celtic and folk bands and itinerant performances. The detailed program with times, lineup, and daily activities will be published by the Pro Loco of Riolo Terme on their official channels in the weeks leading up to the event.
