A poetry festival in the alleys of Marineo

In Vicoli DiVersi – Wandering Poetry Festival is a cultural event that brings the historic center of Marineo, a town in the Metropolitan City of Palermo, in the heart of Sicily, to life. The concept is as simple as it is poetic: to make poetry an open space, accessible to everyone, by returning it to the streets and the community. For one evening, the town's alleys are filled with verses hanging like laundry drying in the sun, creating a suggestive setting for a stroll full of surprises.

Verses hung in the streets

The festival was born from an intuition of artistic director Delia Pecoraro, who oversees its conception and direction. Along the streets of the center – from Via Lo Pinto to Via Antonio Meucci – passersby can walk among verses from different times and places, pause to read them, and soak in an intimate, cozy atmosphere. Poetry thus steps out of books to become a shared experience, a living part of the village's urban landscape.

Readings, performances, and workshops

Alongside the verse installations, the evening offers a program rich in diverse artistic expressions:

• Poetry readings aloud throughout the alleys
• Live performances and spontaneous art
• Writing and creative thinking workshops, open to the public starting at 7:00 PM
• Moments dedicated to word, sound, and gesture, understood as primal acts of human expression

A highlight of the Marineo summer

In Vicoli DiVersi is now a highly anticipated event of the Marineo summer and is part of the cultural calendar that the Municipality of Marineo offers during the summer months, featuring music, theater, and open-air shows. The event boasts a long history: already documented in the late 2010s, it reached its eighteenth edition in 2025, confirming itself as one of the village's most iconic initiatives.

Perched in the interior of western Sicily, a short distance from Palermo, Marineo preserves a historic center with a discreet charm, dominated by the castle and crossed by narrow alleys and stairways. It is precisely this natural backdrop that frames the festival, transforming every corner of the town into a small stage for words and images.
