The travelling festival bringing art, music, and theatre to the alleys of Palermo's Capo district
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Da Capo a Capo – Capo District Festival is a widespread cultural event held in the Capo district, one of the oldest and most vibrant historic markets and neighbourhoods in the centre of Palermo, in the heart of Sicily. Conceived and directed by actor and director Valerio Strati, artistic director of the Teatro Alla Guilla, the festival aims to explore the district through art and sensory experiences, offering residents and visitors a fresh perspective on its history-steeped alleys, courtyards, and squares.
The heart of the festival is a travelling route that begins at Porta Carini and winds through the streets of the Capo market, passing iconic landmarks of the district all the way to Piazza Beati Paoli. Along the way, the audience is accompanied by a guide and encounters theatrical performances, musical interventions, dance, and storytelling, in a continuous blend of live performance and urban heritage. The stops along the route highlight the most intimate and popular side of the district, where art merges with the daily lives of its inhabitants.
One of the strongest features of Da Capo a Capo is its community participation: alongside professional artists, the local children and youth take centre stage, having taken part in creative workshops for singing and dance that culminate in a public showcase and a celebration for families. The festival thus serves as an opportunity for social redemption and cohesion for a neighbourhood often known only for its market, enhancing its cultural and human identity.
Promoted by local associations and cultural organisations with the support of the Municipality of Palermo, Da Capo a Capo offers completely free admission, with the aim of making art and culture accessible to all. Now a fixture of the Palermitan autumn, the festival has become a highly anticipated event in the cultural life of the metropolitan city of Palermo. Dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced: it is recommended to check for updates via the organisers and the official channels of the Teatro Alla Guilla.
The Da Capo a Capo festival is also expected in 2026 in the Capo district of Palermo. As of today, the organisers have not yet announced the official dates or the programme for the 2026 edition. In continuity with previous editions, an artistic and participatory itinerary is planned through the alleys and squares of the district, with theatre, music, dance, and free creative workshops. Please check the official channels for updates.
The festival takes place in the Capo district of Palermo, with the travelling route starting at Porta Carini and featuring a main stop at Piazza Beati Paoli.
The Capo district is located in the historic centre of Palermo, just a short walk from the Teatro Massimo and the Cathedral. It is easily accessible on foot from the city centre; we recommend using public transport or city parking facilities, given the limited vehicle access within the market streets.
All activities are free of charge.
