Art, wine, and tradition in the heart of Trecastagni, on the slopes of Mount Etna
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Il Salotto dell'Etna is one of the most beloved summer events in the Etna region. It takes place in Trecastagni, in the province of Catania, along Corso Vittorio Emanuele, the main artery of the historic center that transforms into a grand open-air lounge for several weekends. The event, promoted by the Municipality of Trecastagni, focuses on the food, wine, craft, and cultural excellence of the eastern slopes of Mount Etna, in a format that blends taste, art, and tradition.
The heart of the festival is the wine experience dedicated to the wines of the volcano. Tasting stalls from local wineries are set up along the main street, accompanied by masterclasses and guided tastings held in collaboration with the Fondazione Italiana Sommelier. Etna wines, produced on volcanic soils at high altitudes, tell the story of a unique territory where viticulture coexists with Europe's highest active volcano.
Il Salotto dell'Etna is not just about food and wine. The program includes craft and antique exhibitions, art shows, and live painting sessions, as well as a busy calendar of book presentations featuring Sicilian authors. Over the years, it has hosted literary meetings, series like "Scintille Letterarie," and in-depth discussions on the region. The festival also intertwines with the Festival dei Vulcani, dedicated to scientific and cultural outreach related to Mount Etna, featuring meetings and workshops for young people and students.
The evenings are brought to life by live music and shows: guitar and violin concerts, jazz trios, dance performances, and contemporary art, alongside the tradition of Sicilian puppets and show cooking events. The atmosphere is that of a cozy, convivial mountain town, with the public strolling among the stands until late at night.
Located at an altitude of about 600 meters on the southeastern slopes of Mount Etna, Trecastagni is one of the most characteristic towns in the province of Catania, known for its Baroque heritage and the Sanctuary of the Saints Alfio, Filadelfo, and Cirino. Il Salotto dell'Etna is part of the broader Trecastagni d'Estate program, which enlivens the town from the beginning of summer with dozens of cultural, musical, and traditional appointments. The event offers free admission and is an ideal opportunity to discover the flavors and crafts of the Etna region of Sicily.

The program, once confirmed, is expected to feature tasting stalls of Etna wines, masterclasses, craft and antique exhibitions, book presentations, and musical performances.
