Autumn on a Plate in the Pollino

Il Gusto del Pollino is the grand celebration of autumn flavours in Viggianello, a village in the province of Potenza nestled within the Pollino National Park. For several weekends between October and November, the town becomes a showcase for seasonal products and Lucanian gastronomic traditions, held at the "E. Morricone" Municipal Amphitheatre.

A Journey Through Seasonal Flavours

The undisputed stars are the mushrooms and chestnuts of the Pollino, accompanied by cured meats, cheeses, honey, and many other specialities that tell the story of the region's richness. Traditional peasant dishes are also featured: kavatìeddi (handmade gnocchi), frascàtula (Lucanian polenta), and 'mbastata soup. Alongside tastings, there are markets for local products and crafts, as well as food workshops.

Tradition and Hospitality

Organised by the Pro Loco of Viggianello, the event combines the promotion of food and wine, the discovery of the village, and contact with the nature of the Pollino during the foliage season. Events take place on Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings, in a festive atmosphere that draws visitors from all over Basilicata and neighbouring regions.
