A new event in the highest village in the Lazio region

Il Borgo delle Dame is a fresh cultural initiative launched in 2026 in Cervara di Roma, a small town perched at over 1,000 meters above sea level in the heart of the Simbruini Mountains Regional Natural Park, in the province of Rome. The event was created as a tribute to the women and mothers of the village, transforming the streets and squares of the historic center into an immersive journey of art, music, and dialogue. It is no coincidence that Cervara has been known for centuries as a village of artists; Italian and foreign painters have stayed here since the 19th century, drawn by the alleys carved into the rock and the sweeping views over the Aniene Valley.

Two dates in 2026: March 8th and May 10th

The first edition is divided into two symbolic days. On March 8th, for International Women's Day, the historic center hosts a journey through art, history, and local heritage, promoted by the Municipality and highlighted by the Simbruini Mountains Park, featuring scattered exhibitions and storytelling about the village. On May 10th, for Mother's Day, the festival comes to life in Piazza Umberto I with a program dedicated to art, music, and community spirit.

The "A cielo aperto" exhibition and artists of the Aniene Valley

The visual heart of the event is the "A cielo aperto" (Open Air) exhibition, inaugurated on the morning of May 10th with original works dedicated to femininity. The exhibition brings together the works of numerous artists from Cervara and the Aniene Valley, celebrating the creative vocation that has always distinguished the village. The artworks engage with the stone walls, staircases, and corners of the town, in a layout designed to be experienced while strolling through the alleys.

Live music and the "Women's Salon"

The day continues with live music: the bands Fabrica Associazione and Woodpickers will take turns on stage. There is also space for discussion and reflection with the "Women's Salon", moderated by Ethea, a moment of dialogue dedicated to the stories and voices of local women. At noon, the square comes alive with a convivial lunch open to everyone.

An event by the Municipality and the Lazio Region

The event is promoted by the Campaegli Wild association together with the Municipality of Cervara di Roma and the Pro Loco, with the support of the Lazio Region. It is a project aimed at enhancing the village and its community, placing women and the widespread creativity of the territory at the center.
