The abstract painting of Gianluca Ripepi at the Museo della Latteria Turnaria
In the small town of Casale Corte Cerro, in the province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola, the Museo della Latteria Consorziale Turnaria opens its doors to an exhibition that blends tradition with contemporary flair. The "Identitatis" exhibition is a solo show by painter Gianluca Ripepi, held as part of the Saint George Patronal Feast, the most cherished event for the local community, which brings the town to life between late April and early May.
The museum hosting the exhibition is no ordinary space: the Latteria Consorziale Turnaria was established in 1872, and the building, restored and transformed into an ethnographic museum, chronicles the history of collective milk collection and processing. In this setting steeped in memory, "Identitatis" demonstrates how a place dedicated to local tradition can also serve as a venue for contemporary art and temporary exhibitions.
The exhibition reflects on the theme of identity through an abstract pictorial language, built using mixed media and processes of color layering and subtraction. The works feature surfaces marked by fields of color, linear elements, and graphic signs that overlap and intersect, creating a plurality of visual levels.
Ripepi's research explores the complex and shifting nature of identity, rendered through formal balance and chromatic tension. It is a journey that invites visitors to pause and read the works in successive layers, much like the way memory and personal experience are layered in each of us.
This exhibition marks the second consecutive year that the Museo della Latteria Turnaria has hosted an art show during the Saint George Patronal Feast, confirming the commitment of the Casale Corte Cerro municipal administration to complement religious and popular festivities with high-quality cultural programming.
For those visiting the Verbano area and Lake Orta, "Identitatis" is an opportunity to discover an authentic corner of Piedmont, far from the beaten tourist track, where local culture and contemporary art engage in an unexpected space.
The solo show by Gianluca Ripepi brought the Museo della Latteria Consorziale Turnaria in Casale Corte Cerro to life between late April and early May 2026, as part of the Saint George Patronal Feast calendar. The exhibition confirmed the ethnographic museum's vocation for opening up to contemporary art, featuring abstract works built through layering and color subtraction. The opening, on Saturday, April 25, was accompanied by a presentation by Raffaella Andreoletti. In the following days, the exhibition was open for free during evening hours, integrating with the events of the patronal feast.
The exhibition was displayed in the rooms of the Museo della Latteria Consorziale Turnaria, at Via Superiore 46 in Casale Corte Cerro, and was included in the Saint George Patronal Feast program.
The inaugural presentation by Raffaella Andreoletti and the evening openings (19:00-22:00) allowed visitors to experience Gianluca Ripepi's abstract solo show in the unique atmosphere of the Saint George Patronal Feast.
