About Ibla Christmas Magic

For nearly a month, from early December through Epiphany, the Baroque village of Ragusa Ibla transforms into a grand Christmas wonderland. Between the festive, illuminated Iblei Gardens, markets brimming with Sicilian confectionery specialties, the Christmas Village at the San Vincenzo Ferreri Auditorium, and the traditional Nativity scene of ancient crafts at the foot of the San Giorgio Cathedral steps, Ibla Christmas Magic blends the beauty of this UNESCO World Heritage historic center with the spellbinding atmosphere of the holidays. A beloved event for families and visitors across the Ragusa province and all of Sicily.

Ragusa Ibla dresses up for Christmas

Every winter, the ancient heart of Ragusa, the Ibla district, lights up and fills with the scents and sounds of the festive season. Ibla Christmas Magic - Christmas Village is the grand holiday festival organized by CCN Antica Ibla with the support of the Municipality of Ragusa. For about a month, it turns the village's Baroque alleys into an enchanted path designed for all ages. The event takes place in the Municipality of Ragusa, in the heart of the Val di Noto, an area recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site for its extraordinary Baroque architecture.

The places of magic

The route winds through the most evocative spots in Ibla. The Iblei Gardens turn into an enchanted park with sparkling lights and Christmas markets, where you can find local crafts and regional sweet specialties: nougats, mucatoli, cassatelle ragusane, and mulled wine scent the cold winter air. A wandering elf guides children and adults alike to discover the stalls hidden along the paths.

The Christmas Village and the Nativity scene

The Christmas Village comes to life at the San Vincenzo Ferreri Auditorium, featuring Santa's house, creative workshops, and the chance to drop off your letter. Special guests animate the village: the Grinch makes an appearance in the final days of December, while the Befana arrives in early January with sweet surprises. At the foot of the monumental San Giorgio Cathedral steps, the Nativity Scene of Ancient Crafts reconstructs the workshops and trades of the past with actors in period costumes, bringing the traditions of rural and artisanal Sicily back to life.

Attractions for the whole family

  • The Carousel in Piazza G.B. Odierna, a delight for the little ones
  • Luminous water features with colorful light shows
  • The characteristic Baroque little train of Ibla, transformed into Santa's train
  • The Nativity Scene Trail winding through the village's historic churches
  • Roaming musical events and concerts throughout the period

A Baroque Christmas

The strength of the event lies in the dialogue between the magic of the holidays and the unique backdrop of Ragusa's Baroque style: churches, palaces, staircases, and squares become the natural stage for a Christmas that draws visitors from across the province and all of Sicily. It is the perfect opportunity to discover Ragusa Ibla in its most evocative guise, amidst culture, tradition, and a cozy atmosphere.
