A month of holiday enchantment in the Baroque alleys of Ragusa Ibla
Every winter, the ancient heart of Ragusa, the Ibla district, lights up and fills with the scents and sounds of the festive season. Ibla Christmas Magic - Christmas Village is the grand holiday festival organized by CCN Antica Ibla with the support of the Municipality of Ragusa. For about a month, it turns the village's Baroque alleys into an enchanted path designed for all ages. The event takes place in the Municipality of Ragusa, in the heart of the Val di Noto, an area recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site for its extraordinary Baroque architecture.
The route winds through the most evocative spots in Ibla. The Iblei Gardens turn into an enchanted park with sparkling lights and Christmas markets, where you can find local crafts and regional sweet specialties: nougats, mucatoli, cassatelle ragusane, and mulled wine scent the cold winter air. A wandering elf guides children and adults alike to discover the stalls hidden along the paths.
The Christmas Village comes to life at the San Vincenzo Ferreri Auditorium, featuring Santa's house, creative workshops, and the chance to drop off your letter. Special guests animate the village: the Grinch makes an appearance in the final days of December, while the Befana arrives in early January with sweet surprises. At the foot of the monumental San Giorgio Cathedral steps, the Nativity Scene of Ancient Crafts reconstructs the workshops and trades of the past with actors in period costumes, bringing the traditions of rural and artisanal Sicily back to life.
The strength of the event lies in the dialogue between the magic of the holidays and the unique backdrop of Ragusa's Baroque style: churches, palaces, staircases, and squares become the natural stage for a Christmas that draws visitors from across the province and all of Sicily. It is the perfect opportunity to discover Ragusa Ibla in its most evocative guise, amidst culture, tradition, and a cozy atmosphere.
The 2025-2026 edition opened on December 6, 2025, at 5:00 PM with the inauguration of the Christmas Village and markets, accompanied by a performance from the Mariele Ventre choir. Among the new features, for the first time, the Carousel in Piazza G.B. Odierna was active starting December 13. The luminous water features, the Baroque little train of Santa Claus, the Nativity Scene Trail in the village churches, and roaming musical events were all confirmed.
Special guests at the Christmas Village included the Grinch from December 26 to 31 and the Befana from January 1 to 6. The Nativity Scene of Ancient Crafts, at the foot of the San Giorgio Cathedral steps, featured animated workshops and actors in period costumes.
Ragusa Ibla is located in the lower, ancient part of the city of Ragusa, in southeastern Sicily. By car, it can be reached via the SS115; the nearest airport is Comiso (CIA), about 30 km away. During the event, dedicated bus lines (green and red) are active in addition to regular service.
Available in blue-lined parking zones and at the Iblei Gardens car park.
Admission to the Christmas Village and the Nativity Scene of Ancient Crafts requires a ticket, which can be purchased online via the Webtic platform and the official website. Markets and light displays are free to access.
