The Borgo Fair in Militello in Val di Catania
The Borgo Fair and Christmas Markets is the annual December event that transforms the historic center of Militello in Val di Catania (Metropolitan City of Catania, Sicily) into a grand Christmas village. With the motto "Wisdom and flavors of our ancient village immersed in the Christmas atmosphere," the event combines markets, tastings of local specialties, food and wine, and handicrafts in the scenic Piazza Municipio and throughout the town's streets.
A village to discover
Militello is no ordinary town: in 2002, it was included in the UNESCO World Heritage list among the late-Baroque cities of the Val di Noto, and in 2025, it was named Borgo dei Borghi, the most beautiful village in Italy. The fair is the perfect opportunity to visit churches, monuments, and Baroque palaces while being enveloped by the lights and scents of Christmas.

A community Christmas
Organized by the Municipality of Militello in Val di Catania together with the Pro Loco and local associations, the Borgo Fair is a participatory celebration that highlights the town's identity and its extraordinary Baroque heritage. With concerts, book presentations, creative workshops, and family activities, the village comes alive over several days, usually spread across two weekends in December.

Borgo Fair — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of the Borgo Fair and Christmas Markets in Militello in Val di Catania does not yet have official dates. In previous years, the event was held in December, spread over two weekends, in Piazza Municipio. We are awaiting the announcement of the calendar and program by the Municipality and the Pro Loco.

Location
Militello in Val di Catania (CT), Piazza Municipio and the historic center. The village is located in the Iblei Mountains, at an altitude of about 413 meters, in southeastern Sicily.
How to get there
By car from Catania (about 50 km), take the SS385 towards Caltagirone/Scordia and exit at Militello. The nearest train station is on the Catania-Caltagirone-Gela line. The reference airport is Catania-Fontanarossa.
Admission
Access to the markets is generally free. Some activities and tastings may require a small contribution.
Tips
Combine your visit to the fair with a tour of the UNESCO Baroque center and the churches of Militello. During the Christmas season, dress in layers and book any typical lunches or dinners in advance.
