Luca Maroni's premier wine exhibition at the Salone delle Fontane in Rome's EUR district
I Migliori Vini Italiani is one of the most authoritative wine events in the capital, conceived and directed by sensory analyst Luca Maroni and organized by Sens Eventi. Every February, the Salone delle Fontane in Rome's EUR district welcomes producers, oenologists, and enthusiasts from all over Italy for an event that serves as both a tasting salon and the official presentation of the Yearbook of the Best Italian Wines.
The exhibition is rooted in Maroni's philosophy, which flips traditional academic approaches on their head to focus entirely on the pleasure of wine. His evaluation is based on the 'Pleasurability Index', calculated using three fundamental parameters: consistency (the wine's richness), balance (between softness and acidity), and integrity (purity and absence of defects). The top score of 99 points is a coveted achievement for wineries across the peninsula.
The heart of the event lies in the unlimited open tastings: visitors can sample the best labels selected from every Italian region, moving freely between tasting stands. Alongside the tastings, a rich program of thematic workshops and guided sessions is available:
The event dedicates significant space to gastronomy, with deep dives into local and national delicacies: Pecorino Romano cheese, artisanal bread, guanciale, and regional cured meats. Workshops like 'Bread, Wine, and Pecorino' highlight the food and wine culture of Rome and the Lazio region, creating a continuous dialogue between glass and plate.
With over twenty years of history, I Migliori Vini Italiani has become a fixed appointment in the wine calendar of Rome and the Lazio region. The setting of the Salone delle Fontane, with its rationalist EUR architecture, provides the perfect backdrop for a journey of music, design, and wine culture that attracts thousands of enthusiasts and industry professionals every year.
The 2026 edition, the twenty-fifth of the exhibition, animated the Salone delle Fontane in the EUR district from February 20 to 22, preceded on February 19 by an inaugural evening reserved for institutions and producers. Open from 4:00 PM to midnight on the first two days and from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Sunday, the event offered open tastings from all Italian regions.
A major highlight of the 2026 edition was the theme of dealcoholized wines, evaluated with the same Pleasurability Index applied to traditional wines, confirming Luca Maroni's attention to new industry trends.
Free and unlimited samples of the best labels selected from all Italian regions at the tasting stands.
